Before the big day, the model will be required to attend rehearsals so that they know exactly what they're doing. Hopefully, the running order will remain the same but it isn't guaranteed. Models are zigzagging all over the city trying to make all of the shows on time.

Clothing: For rehearsal, you want to treat it similar to a casting call. I always suggest the “model uniform” of a fitted tank and jeans or leggings with heels. It's also a good idea to wear nude colored undergarments, and either wear or bring a strapless bra.

Despite getting to wear the most beautiful, expensive, glamorous outfits, models unfortunately don't actually get to keep the clothes. Sometimes you may get lucky and get to keep something, but this rarely happens.

During fashion week, a top model might do up to four or five fashion shows in a single day.

I usually never have models make more than two changes per show, and prefer the best case scenario – one model per look. Unfortunately, this rarely is the case since it means hiring up to 70 models! Couture shows usually do it this way, but they can afford it!

What do you bring to a model casting call?

Simple Outfit - Clothing must be simple, clean and form fitting. Don't wear anything distracting because you want all eyes on you and not your outfit. Jeans – fitted or skinny and in dark denim is best. A simple top –tank top or simple tee.

They will ask you to show your walk, try on clothes and will likely take a few snapshots. Begin with a straight up and down shot and then continue to move through a few poses that you have prepared each time they shoot. After the long wait, the actual audition is usually over after a few minutes.

There are different factors that dictate how long a photography session can last but in general, photoshoots last from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

"I wash, I put on oil, I put on cream, I wait, and then I put on another cream. Once a week, I exfoliate, unless it's Fashion Week, and then I exfoliate two times a week. I also don't drink alcohol and don't smoke. I just really take care of my skin."

Leaner physiques require endurance training, so the models do a combination of running, boxing, skipping, dance cardio and light spin classes. But in reality, most models are professionally photographed wearing casual clothes. It's important to bring a pair of jeans, capris, and shorts to a photo shoot. You should also bring t-shirts, casual shoes, and casual dresses.

"Sixteen is a good age to start," says White. "Seventeen is the perfect age for a model, because most girls feel comfortable in themselves by then; 18 is good too, though, because then all their schooling is out of the way. If a girl started at 20, she would find it difficult to get work.
