(NewsNation Now) — Bad news for bargain shoppers: Designer brands are expected to be pulled from discount chains like T.J. Maxx, Ross and Burlington due to global supply chain issues. Designers like Levi's, Under Armour, Ralph Lauren, Carter's and Steve Madden have decided to sell their clothing at full price.
Burlington is owned by the investment firm, Bain Capital and not by Ross, as many people believe it to be. Burlington is a competitor to Ross with the former being the third-largest off-price retailer in the United States after TJX companies and “Ross Dress for Less” stores.

It's very similar to a T.J. Maxx or a Marshalls in that it sells brand name clothes for quite a bit cheaper than you'd find them at your normal department store.

Retail stores everywhere, including department stores, are coping with product shortages as holiday shopping season begins. According to Kerry Byrne, CEO of freight broker Total Quality Logistics in Clermont County, it's all because of pent-up demand after the pandemic, combined with supply chain breakdowns.
TJX Companies (TJX), the parent of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods, is opening 238 stores this year, and Burlington Stores (BURL) is opening up to 40.
The pandemic has sped up the shift to online shopping and caused a wave of store closures. Burlington expects those trends to work in its favor, “leading to further consolidation and additional closures of full price bricks-and-mortar retail stores,” CEO Michael O'Sullivan said on a call with analysts Thursday.
