Designer Fashion Label Fendi Ditches Real Fur for Faux in Latest Fashion Show. Luxury Italian fashion designer, Fendi, made a bold statement last week during the Paris Haute Couture event by sending faux fur down the runway.

The fashion luxury conglomerate behind Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga has banned the use of animal fur across all of its brands by fall 2022. "The time has now come," said Kering CEO and Chairman, François-Henri Pinault, in a short statement issued on Friday.
Faux fur is a major trend in 2022. Or honestly, it feels like the faux fur is always trending in different ways. This year we see faux fur expressed in jackets, coats and bags mainly. The teddy fabric is popular indeed, especially for pile jackets, bags and bucket hats.
Animal Welfare
What's more, the brand still uses fur, down, leather, wool, exotic animal skin, exotic animal hair, and angora! It traces some animal products to the first stage of production, but again, that's simply not enough.
Gucci's fur-free policy underlines a modern and ethical vision for luxury. Gucci made headlines in October 2017 when President and CEO, Marco Bizzarri, announced that the House would no longer use animal fur in its collections.
Louis Vuitton is rated “Very Poor” for the animals because of its use of fur, down, leather, wool, exotic animal skin, and exotic animal hair, though it has a basic formal policy to protect animal welfare.
The luxury French fashion brand Saint Laurent will stop designing clothes using fur from next year, its parent company Kering has said.
Fendi is not cruelty-free. They may test on animals, either themselves, through their suppliers, or through a third party.
It uses down accredited by the Responsible Down Standard. It does not use fur, exotic animal skin or angora. It traces some animal products to the first stage of production.
Is Fendi ethical?
Its labour rating is 'not good enough'. Most of its final stage of production is undertaken in medium risk countries for labour abuse. It received a score of 21-30% in the 2021 Fashion Transparency Index. There is no evidence it implements practices to support diversity and inclusion in its supply chain.
Beginning with their Fall 2022 collections, the luxury goods behemoth will no longer use animal fur of any kind in products created by any of the group's 13 fashion brands. It's another move that cements Kering's place as a leader in fashion's sustainability movement along with several other initiatives.
Macy's and Bloomingdale's are currently selling off the last of their coats so they can close their fur salons. A year ago, California passed a ban on the sale of new fur products, effective in 2023. Many luxury brands, including Burberry, Chanel, Coach, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Versace, have banned fur.
Mink, chinchilla, and fox fur are the most commonly used furs for warmth and fashion. Each of these animals' coats comes in several different colors and offers high levels of softness and quality, making them great choices during the cold weather months. Mink is one of the most popular fur choices all over the world.
“Fur has always been a hot-button issue in fashion, and now more than ever because the consumer has the ability to research and decide for themselves where they want to stand,” said Robert Burke, founder of the luxury consultancy in New York bearing his name.
Chairman and CEO John D. Idol added, “I am pleased to announce our company's commitment to no longer use animal fur in our Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo collections. This decision marks a new chapter as our company continues to evolve its use of innovative materials.” The HSUS applauded the news.
But the company still uses an array of animal parts, including skin from crocodiles, pythons, and lizards. Versace must live up to its word and stop making money off dead animals.

Does Givenchy use animal leather?
LVMH, which owns Givenchy, has left the decision to use real or fake fur to its individual brands including Fendi, which specializes in using mink and fox fur.
