Does Zara use child labor?
Zara used to employ Turkish sweatshops in Istanbul, where workers were forced to work without being paid. Modern slavery and child labor cases involving Zara in Brazilian factories were previously reported. Zara now cares more about its suppliers with higher transparency and worker empowerment initiatives.
Zara stores have been accused of labor abuses in supply chain subjecting workers to degrading conditions. This prompted many consumers to boycott the brand's products. The brand has been linked to forced labor camps in China, and its workers in Brazil are also subjected to inadequate working conditions.
The Spanish fashion brand Zara is outsourcing its production in Argentina to clandestine sweatshops employing immigrants under slave-like conditions.
Labour conditions
Zara again scores “Not Good Enough” for labour. Half of its final stage of production is undertaken in Spain, a medium risk country for labour abuse, and the brand received a score of 51-60% in the Fashion Transparency Index.
Nike admits it cannot ensure that none of its contractors will use child labour, and says the issue is the "most vexing" problem it faces. "Our goal... is to continue to do everything we can to eradicate child labour in our contract factories, but we can be certain that cases will occur," the report states.
Many more have even begun to boycott Zara specifically for its inappropriate association with forced labour camps in China and degrading working conditions in its Brazilian factories. Fast fashion brands such as Zara, expose their workers to extremely harsh working conditions around the world.
In 2011 AHA, the contractor reportedly responsible for 90% of Zara's Brazilian production was found to have subcontracted work to a factory employing migrant workers from Bolivia and Peru in sweatshop conditions in Sao Paulo to make garments for the Spanish company.

H&M and Gap industries are both terrible companies because they both uses child labor.
Zara certainly remains a fast fashion brand with some pretty major ethical and environmental issues. I wouldn't recommend shopping there if you can avoid it, especially since there are sustainable brands with similar size ranges and pricing.
Does SHEIN use child labor?

While some competitors outsource all production to Asia, Zara manufactures its most fashionable items – half of all its merchandise – at a dozen company-owned factories in Spain (particularly in Galicia), Portugal (northern part) and Turkey.
The computer giant company, Apple, has admitted that child labor was used at the factories that built its computers, iPods and mobile phones. At least eleven 15-year-old children were discovered to be working last year in three factories, which supply Apple.
However, the most surprising fact is that while the Walt Disney Company sells products that are catered towards making children happy, the company actually uses sweatshops and child labor to produce their products in developing countries.
1. Young Labor. Amazon does not tolerate the use of child labor. Suppliers are required to engage workers who are: (i) 15 years old, (ii) the age of completion of compulsory education, or (iii) the minimum age to work in the country where work is performed, whichever is greater.

These goals span the next five years and include everything from water conservation to reducing waste in landfills. They've also worked to ban some harmful chemicals in production.
All of Shein's clothes are made in China, as per the website, where forced, underage, and underpaid labor are common and factories are often unregulated — and outsourcing labor to China is how companies like Shein are able to sell clothing at such low prices.
Does H&M have sweatshops?
H&M is still using sweatshop-like work environments to make its products. Even if H&M is trying to make progress, they are failing to meet their goal of paying a living wage to all of their employees. H&M has been caught in scandals many times over.
This company does NOT test on animals.

Gucci was awarded for making strides in the use of cruelty-free leather alternatives, by creating its own in-house animal free material crafted from 77% raw plant-based materials. The new textile, called Demetra, is the result of years of dedicated research and will be used to create the brand's signature accessories.

Is H&M really sustainable?
H&M reports 65% of its materials are recycled, organic, or sustainably sourced, and the company has even implemented a recycling program within its stores. According to the H&M Foundation, the brand is working to meet UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Over the course of a year, Zara alone produces about 840 million garments for its 6,000 stores worldwide. One kilogram of fabric production emits about 23 kilograms of greenhouse gases, so the impact of Zara's yearly fabric production on greenhouse gas emissions is significant.
“There are many allegations of SHEIN's labour practices suggesting the brand is likely to be contracting with manufacturers that may be grossly exploiting, overworking, and underpaying their garment workers,” Hardiman says.
The average SHEIN salary ranges from approximately $29,423 per year for Warehouse Worker to $214,176 per year for Marketing Manager. Average SHEIN hourly pay ranges from approximately $11.00 per hour for Warehouse Associate to $15.00 per hour for Retail Sales Associate.
Unfortunately, nearly all of the most popular, well-known brands in the United States employ sweatshops to some degree to produce their goods. This includes apparel brands such as Adidas, Nike, Old Navy, and H&M, and electronic brands such as Apple and Dell.

The Spanish fast-fashion label Zara ranked ninth in this year's luxury goods category in the Asia's Top 1000 Brands 2019 ranking, below the usual lineup of fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton (which came top again).
In July 2016, the factory shut down due to the “fraudulent disappearance of the Bravo factory's owner,” Inditex says. This owner, the company added, took all the money the fashion companies had paid and disappeared without paying the workers, who had already made the clothing.
As Business of Fashion reported last year, an investigation by a Swiss watchdog group found that in some Shein partner factories, employees worked 12-to-14-hour days and often worked 28 days per month under incredibly unsafe conditions, such as windowless rooms with no fire exists.
