How many original members of Three Dog Night are still alive?
The founding members and lead vocalists of Three Dog Night were Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and Chuck Negron, and actually two out of the three, Hutton and Negron are both still alive; however, only one is still in the band.
In 1967, Three Dog Night was founded by Hutton, Cory Wells, Chuck Negron, Joe Schermie, Floyd Sneed, Jimmy Greenspoon, and Michael Allsup.
The death of Wells — one of the group's three lead singers — was announced on the band's official website. Longtime bandmate Danny Hutton said that Wells died "unexpectedly" Tuesday in Dunkirk, New York. He said that Wells had been performing with the group until developing severe back pain in September.
The current lineup includes original guitarist Michael Allsup, along with bassist-vocalist Paul Kingery, drummer-vocalist Pat Bautz, vocalist David Morgan and keyboardist Howard Laravea. Hutton, now 78, conjured the concept of a band with three vocalists, sharing or pairing lead duties with the others in 1967.

Danny Hutton has remained the only constant member of Three Dog Night for more than half a century. In 1967, Danny Hutton had already achieved moderate success as a singer-songwriter for Hanna-Barbera Records.
Hutton continues to lead Three Dog Night along with Michael Allsup and the band, touring regularly throughout the US and Canada.
Allsup is no longer with Three Dog Night.
