Should dress pants be tapered?
Dress trousers should be neither so tapered that the hug the leg nor so loose that they flap in the wind. More traditional men will prefer a more generous cut, more fashion-forward men tend to want a slimmer cut.
Deciding how much to taper pants
In many cases, a one inch taper when pinching out material is an acceptable amount to be taken in. You can definitely get your pants tapered more than one inch, but it is best to consult a tailor or seamstress.
No Break – The hemline ends just before the ankle. Best on tapered pants; trendy. Partial Break – The hemline falls just at the top of your shoe. There will be one small crease in the fabric.
