Was Sharon Tate a good person?
Described by many as a gentle-hearted woman, her sister Debra Tate recalled years later to the Irish Examiner, “Not only was she physically exquisite, her inside, her heart, her soul, her kindness, her humanity - all of that was as beautiful as the exterior. She was kind, loving and giving.”
Polly revealed that Lee and Tate first met in 1965, when her Hollywood hairstylist boyfriend at the time, Jay Sebring, helped Lee break into acting. After Tate broke up with Sebring and began dating Polanski, she continued her friendship with Lee.
The second wife of film director Roman Polanski, Tate was brutally murdered (along with four others) by followers of Charles Manson at the couple's rented home in Los Angeles in 1969 (see Tate murders).
Before he was set to arrive at Tate's house, Steve McQueen received a phone call from a “young and beautiful blonde he had been seeing.” McQueen invited her to Tate's house, but she told him she had a better plan that involved only the two of them. That night, Jay Sebring was murdered by the Manson family.
In spite of Sebring's reputation for being promiscuous after his separation, the hairdresser fell hard for Tate. “Jay made no secret of the fact that he was really in love with her,” Sebring friend Skip Ward told King.
Was it her undeniable beauty, life in the public eye or the sheer brutality and senselessness of her murder that has immortalised Tate's image? She died just two weeks from her due date, pregnant with the baby boy devastatingly laid to rest in her arms at the Holy Cross Cemetery near Los Angeles.
Though he wasn't at the house that day, as the film portrays, Lee was deeply affected by the deaths of Tate and Sebring.
Booth is actually based on two actual Hollywood stuntmen. Both men served in the military, though neither served in WWII. Both have led interesting and well-traveled lives, and one of them actually met Charles Manson.

Manson, an aspiring musician, chose the Polanski house because he had once unsuccessfully tried to get a recording deal from a producer who used to live there. Polanski was out of town at the time of the murders, but his wife and her friends, including coffee heiress Abigail Folger, were shot or stabbed to death.
Is the labianca house still there?

Rick Dalton was partly inspired by Burt Reynolds as well as actors whose careers began in classical Hollywood but faltered in the 1960s, like Ty Hardin, William Shatner, Edd Byrnes, George Maharis, Tab Hunter, Vince Edwards and Fabian Forte.
If Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is about Sharon Tate in any sense, it's about giving her that life back, and studiously not fixating on her death. To some extent, it's actually about leaving her alone. Tate's sister Debra approved and endorsed both Robbie and the film as a whole.
We're told he bought Sharon's wedding dress for $56,000 at auction back in November. It's the dress from her 1968 marriage to Roman Polanski ... and it's now on display at his museum in Vegas ... but it's not part of the Manson exhibit. We're told Zak didn't want the dress near the Manson items, out of respect for her.
