What makes Coachella so special?
Along with music, Coachella is unique from other music festivals because it showcases art installations across the venue. Although the installation, transportation, and set-up of the art itself is very expensive, the amount of exposure the artists receive outweighs it.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, simply known as Coachella, is a 3-day-long music festival (Friday – Sunday) held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California in the month of April. This festival was spawned by a beef that Pearl Jam had with Ticketmaster.
After a two-festival hiatus, Coachella made its triumphant return—and now it's time to turn our attention to Coachella 2023.
The United States plays host to some of the world's most headline-grabbing festivals, but the biggest event, welcoming 3 million revelers each year, takes place in Europe. (Coachella doesn't even crack the top 10.)
Almost every year, stars descend upon Indio, CA, where Coachella is held, and the surrounding areas in Palm Springs and Joshua Tree, sparing no expense when it comes to their place of residence.
The name is pronounced 'Co-chella' – as opposed to 'co-a-chella' or any other way you might care to pronounce it.
As you can see, bringing Vapes into Coachella is allowed but they have to be specific types of vapes. Vape pens and e-cigs are allowed into the venue, but advanced personal vapes (APVs), box mods, and liquid refills (what we assume must be bottles of e-liquid) are prohibited.
The event features musical artists from many genres of music, including rock, pop, indie, hip hop and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music.
Coachella fashion doesn't really have any rules, anything goes – but be prepared for a lot of skin and free-love kind of fashion with people looking for refuge from the blistering heat.
The origin of the name Coachella is unclear. Some locals believe it was a misspelling of Conchilla, a Spanish word for the small white snail shells found in the valley's sandy soil, vestiges of a lake that dried up over 3,000 years ago.
