What did the men wear in the Renaissance?
What did the men wear? Men wore colorful tights or stockings with a shirt and coat. The coat was generally tight fitting and was called a doublet. They often wore hats as well.
So they wore puffy-shouldered shirts and jackets topped with capes and wide-hipped, often poofy, knee-length pants worn over stockings on the lower leg. They would round out the outfit with wide-toed shoes. Wealthier men's outfits were quite elaborate and infused with ornamentation.

Lower Class
Working women would wear simple dresses. They also wore aprons. Every woman always had at least one apron that would be used while working and another would be worn when they were more dressed up. Even lower class men would at least wear a shirt and a doublet in public.
Pants. Peasant men wore loose-fitting pants -- or trews -- which tied at the waist and laced around the lower leg. They were made of cheap materials. Noblemen, on the other hand, sported breeches, also known as Venetian breeches, that were roomy and loose.
Doublet (duhb-lit): for men, a close-fitting waist-length jacket, either sleeveless or featuring tie-in sleeves, with a short peplum (see below) extending from the waistline. Doublet's could be front or side closing.
Most men choose to wear full-length breeches or half-length breeches with socks tucked into simple leather boots. For summer Ren Faires, tights would be uncomfortably warm anyway. DON'T dress as a pirate!, Trekkie, mermaid, elf, unless its' that kind of Renaissance Faire.
The Renaissance color palette also featured realgar and among the blues azurite, ultramarine and indigo. The greens were verdigris, green earth and malachite; the yellows were Naples yellow, orpiment, and lead-tin yellow. Renaissance browns were obtained from umber.
