If you are planning on visiting some of the treasuries contained in the Churches of Venice, make sure you will dress appropriately. They are considered places of worship, so beachwear, shorts and sleeveless clothes are not allowed.
You might want to wear layers for the breezy wind and pack an umbrella or poncho in case of rain. The pier and the boardwalk provide plenty of walking so you'll want comfortable walking shoes. Bring flip-flops or water shoes for the beach. Pack a backpack to hold beach towels, sunscreen, and any extra items.

The Venice Biennale takes place biennially in Venice, Italy, and participating nations select artists to show at their pavilions, hosted in the Venice Giardini, Arsenale, and palazzos throughout the city. The 90 pavilions set a new record for national participation, exceeding the 86 from 2017.

Works in the main show at the Biennale are technically, of course, not for sale. In this sense, the carefully curated exhibition stands in contrast to the (somewhat more drab) halls of a top-tier art fair, where many of the same artists could be on show.
You should avoid wearing tank tops or other clothing that exposes the shoulders when entering the Vatican or a church. Try not to wear anything that is too revealing as that can be interpreted as a sign of disrespect. Wearing mini-skirts or short shorts would be frowned on in the Vatican.
Save your heels for the evenings, however bear in mind you will be walking – a lot – and wedge heels may be more comfortable. The streets are paved though, not cobbled, so you can get away with small stiletto heels if you prefer.
People wearing shorts or sleeveless shirts are never allowed inside the theatre, no matter what is on stage. During the Opening Opera or Concerts Season wearing a shirt, with a tie and a jacket is warmly recommended. For the afternoon performances, instead, you can wear anything smart-casual.
