Castile soap is unique in that it's both gentle and strong; it's gentle on skin because it's made from saponified oils that have hydrating properties, but it's an equally powerful cleanser that can tackle even the most stubborn grime.
May leave a residue: Castile soap can leave a residue on shiny or hard surfaces, especially when it's used with water that has a lot of minerals in it (called "hard" water). Doesn't mix with acids: Since Castile soap is alkaline, it's not recommended that you mix it with acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar.

Castile soap is mild enough to use on your face and strong enough to potentially prevent acne and kill harmful bacteria. Rub a few drops of soap onto your face and rinse as usual.
Why is castile soap so drying?
Castile Bar Soap
Palm oil contains stearic acid, which some people find to be less drying than the lauric acid found in coconut oils. Also, the addition of sodium chloride (aka “table salt”) further hardens the bar and matches the natural salinity of our skin. Read more in my post, Liquid vs. Bar.
Pure Castile soaps are completely bio-degradable and non-toxic. Made with simple, age-old ingredients, you can even use pure Castile soap as a vegetable wash (diluted properly).
Since castile soap is made from safe, simple plant oils, it is considered safe for even the most sensitive skin types. It can help oily, acne-prone skin. The oils found in castile soap penetrate pores with their antibacterial agents, helping clean your skin without drying it out.
What are the benefits of Castile Soap? Castile soap is completely natural with no harsh chemical additives or detergents. It is non-toxic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, an antioxidant and offers deep moisturising effects whilst being 100% biodegradable.
