What fonts do Gen Z like?
Gothic Fonts
Typography is another great way that designers can connect with Gen Z. This younger generation has no hangups about material that gets playful with type. Indeed, it's often the case that the bigger and bolder, the better.
The survey also found that millennials and Gen Z consumers think about logos differently than older generations, preferring monochrome color schemes, with blue, white and black considered the “most trustworthy” for logos.
In design, everything is a matter of consistency and control. Generation Z changes the linear way of thinking. Brands will have to become flexible, visual identities modular, elements changeable. The brand refresh that will follow Gen Z trends will be unsustainable—we will have to switch to a Circular design.
COLOR PALETTE
The older end of Gen-Z tends to follow millennial trends closely. This includes the muted colors and pastels like “spearmint,” green, and blush pink. Also, like millennial colors, Gen-Zers rely heavily on the 80s and 90s trends; bright and bold colors are typical (including neon).

Comic Sans: The most annoying font in the world Back to video. Even if you didn't know what it was called, you will be familiar with Comic Sans. Comic Sans is type that has gone wrong.
#1: Comic Sans
Think of party invitations, entertainment, and anything fun; Comic Sans isn't your professional typeface. This childish font has entirely no room in a professional working environment, apart from a preschool setting.
Social media is a huge trend for this generation. Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok are, by far, the most frequently used platforms. One-quarter of Gen Zers spend five hours or more per day on TikTok. TikTok continues to soar in popularity among members of Generation Z (99x+ in 5 years).

Along with Square and Whirlpool, the top five also included cosmetics brand Urban Decay, Old Spice and Electronic Arts. Conducted quarterly, the poll ranks brands by how much their equity has changed with Gen Z—that is, how much this generation's perception of these brands is changing from quarter to quarter.
With the Pantone Color Institute coining 'Gen Z yellow' the new 'Millennial pink', the cheery, bold and carefree colour looks set to stay. Historically, yellow is a bit of a marmite colour that is conflicted by its meanings and associations.
At any step, Generation Z prefers customized content. According to a WP Engine poll, half of all Gen Z respondents say that they wouldn't return to a website that didn't personalize advertising to their tastes. For Gen Z users, this kind of predictive website UX is truly appealing.
It was a soft, powdery blush pink that was everywhere, until suddenly it felt a little passe. The latest colour craze that's being driven by generational consumer trends, and is appearing across fashion, interiors and beauty, is what has been dubbed “Gen Z green”. Getty Images. "Very Peri" is the Pantone colour of the year for 2022.
The company describes Very Peri as “a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red”.
They are pragmatic and financially-minded
Financial mindedness is another core characteristic of Generation Z. Many Gen Z‑ers grew up watching their parents take huge financial hits during the Great Recession. Having witnessed their parents' struggles, this generation is driven by pragmatism and security.

In the hall of shame for fonts, we all know which one stands on top: Comic Sans. It is arguably by far the most reviled font out there. But if there is a font that falls in second place — and a close second, at that — it would be Papyrus.
Arial grew in popularity both because of its selection as a Microsoft core font and its design as a sans serif. It was, quite simply, the most accessible sans serif font available to most people with computers, and sans serif fonts were growing in popularity with the increase in computer usage.
In this study, the hard-to-read fonts were Haettenschweiler, Monotype Corsiva or Comic Sans Italicized.
Calibri looks unprofessional and it is distracting. There are plenty of fonts that meet the requirement for a san serif font that are more visually pleasing.
Gotham is that rarest of designs, the new typeface that feels somehow familiar. From the lettering that inspired it, Gotham inherited an honest tone that's assertive but never imposing, friendly but never folksy, confident but never aloof.
To professional designers, Arial is looked down on as a not-very-faithful imitation of a typeface that is no longer fashionable. It has what you might call a “low-end stigma.” The few cases that I have heard of where a designer has intentionally used Arial were because the client insisted on it.
As with Comic Sans, avoid this typeface if you want to be taken seriously. Unlike other reviled typefaces, though, Papyrus isn't bad because it is overused: it's bad because it just doesn't look good. Kitschy, cheap and vile, Papyrus has no place in your designs. According to this view, young people are unhappy because they're exposed to large amounts of negative information online, victim to constant comparison on social media, ignorant of the “real world”, and consumed by our digital lives.
Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram will be the most popular social networks among Gen Z this year, but their user bases are growing at different rates. TikTok, which burst on the US scene in 2018, already has more Gen Z users than Instagram and is closing the gap with Snapchat.
Some topics that matter to Gen Z include: LGBTQ+ rights: 60% of Gen Zers think same-sex couples should be able to adopt children. Diversity: 60% of Gen Zers say increased racial and ethnic diversity is good for society. Social responsibility: 70% of Gen Zers try to purchase from companies they consider ethical.
Social media platforms, video games, and social media groups are the top places that young people are finding community overall—but Gen Z and Millennials' top responses are not the same.

You may have noticed a reemergence of serif typefaces appearing across logos, wordmarks, and display fonts. High-visibility brands like Chobani and WeWork feature a serif logotype, whereas Slack and Oscar Health use a serif font as their primary display fonts.
