What is resort chic dress code?
Sometimes, evening dress codes are called “resort chic,” “elegant casual,” “party casual” or “casual chic.” There's no need to wear a suit and tie or a sequined co*cktail dress. Men will be comfortable and blend in when wearing trousers and a collared shirt and women in trousers, a skirt or dress.
Resort Casual
You can comfortably wear swimsuit coverups, jeans, capris, and shorts with a t-shirt or polo. Tennis shoes, sneakers, and sandals, are all acceptable as well. You can even wear flip flops with this relaxed dress code!
Women can wear a blouse with a beautiful pair of trousers, a high-waist skirt, or a casual dress. You should avoid wearing flip-flops and opt for stylish sandals or close-toed footwear with beach vacation dresses.
Resort casual is usually a daytime look worn for activities and even if you are exploring. For women, that breaks down to sundresses, maxi dresses, tops, capris, skirts, and shorts in beautiful prints, colors, and soft fabrics.
It's not shirt and tie, but dress smart casual.
Resort casual wear is the clothes you would pack for a vacation to a nice beach resort during the summer. Imagine swimsuit coverups, capris, polo shirts, and boat shoes. It's more elevated than jeans and a t-shirt, but not as formal as business casual.
Usually referred to as "resort casual", this dress code includes the same colorful blouse for ladies and the same polo or button down shirt for men (Tommy Bahama shirts are okay here) as the Casual dress code, but you'll want to choose khaki's or linen pants over jeans. Shoes optional for beach weddings.
A lot of all-inclusive resorts have dress codes, especially at dinner time. Many require men to wear long pants, collared shirts and/or close-toed shoes. Without the proper attire you may be stuck eating at the buffet every night.

Short skirts, long dresses, and even jumpsuits have a home on the sand. Solid colors are popular, and it's always a good idea to suggest light, breathable fabrics like khaki, linen, or the increasingly popular seersucker.
What is co*cktail chic attire?
Essentially, it means you should dress in relatively formal clothing—but not too formal. It's kind of an in-between place, if you will. Think: mini and midi dresses that are chic and polished, suiting that's a bit more tailored, and footwear that feels elevated (literally, if you're wearing heels).
Country club and resort-style attire are generally appropriate, like button-down shirts and slacks for men or dresses, nice pants or skirts and tops for women. In all evening dining venues, passengers are requested to adhere to a more elegant interpretation of country club casual dress code.
Business casual is typically defined as no jeans, no shorts, no short dresses or skirts for women, optional ties for men, and a rotation of button-downs or blouses.
Resort formal IS a little confusing...it seems it should be more than it is. Actually they stated it exactly: "Formal Resort Attire, including dresses, skirts or pants for women and dress pants and button-up shirts for men."
