What profession makes dyes in SWTOR?
Artifice is a crafting crew skill. Artificers can craft lightsabers, generators, foci, relics, and item modifications such as color crystals, dye modules, and hilts.
Craftable dyes can be crafted by players who have the Artifice crew skill levelled to the correct Artifice level. Once you have reached the required Artifice level, the schematic for these dyes can be purchased directly from the artifice crew skills trainer.
Dye modules are one-use each, and can be crafted by Artificers, bought from other players on the GTN, bought from the Cartel Market with Cartel Coins, schematics can be earned through the Reputation system, and there are a few special dyes available via the Collector's Edition and Security Vendor.

Dye Modules are modification components that can be used in modifiable armor sets. It can change the colour of the selected piece and if it is removed from the component selection, it will be destroyed.
I would not expect dyes to become removable or reusable. The dye market is one of BW's cash cows. People buy the dye packs hoping to either sell them on the GTN or open those packs hoping to hit the "jackpot".

You can get crystals from a lot of places some are available from the PVP vendor on the fleet, and the GTN will have a ton of them for sale under the Item Modifications section. Other players can craft them as for you if you ask and provide credits/materials.
