When did they stop making milk cartons?

The design of plastic milk bottles evolved quickly in the mid-1960s, when the handled jug as we now know it was invented. The design not only saved dairies money, it encouraged customers to buy a gallon of milk at a time, a large amount compared to the smaller quantities sold outside the U.S.
One of the more recent appearances of a face on a milk carton was when 16-year-old Molly Bish disappeared from her lifeguarding job in Massachusetts in 2000. You could get milk in paper cartons until around the 2010s when we made the full transition to recyclable plastic. We still carry some products in cartons (Premium Tea, Cream, School Half Pints).
This meant it was easy to get to the grocery store independently, on their own time. Unfortunately, the convenience and cost factor also meant that glass milk bottles were soon replaced by plastic containers and wax paper cartons. By the 1950s, almost all milk in the United States was packaged in square cartons.

After the juice box is open, squeezing it while carrying it will result in liquid gushing out of the straw and the opening. Carrying it by the flaps prevents spill because they are separate from the actual package containing the juice.
