What rhinestones sparkle the most?
Types of rhinestones
Swarovski: The highest quality rhinestone. Made in Austria, each stone has 14 facets unless it is vintage, in which case it has 12 facets. The more facets, the more light that is reflected.
Over time, facial powder, perfume or hair spray can build up on your rhinestones, making them look less than glittery. To restore their sparkle, gently brush the stones with an old, very soft toothbrush dipped in a solution of mild soap and water.
Rhinestones create the sparkle in different ways. Your traditional crystals have foil backs. These foil back stones produce the sparkle from the “mirror” foil. The light enters the stone and bounces back through the facets creating the sparkle.
Moissanite is actually more brilliant than a diamond!
Brilliance, which refers to a stone's ability to reflect white light, is a good measure for how much a gemstone will 'sparkle'. Moissanite's brilliance is higher than diamond's due to its higher “refractive index” (Diamond's is 2.42, whereas Moissanite's is 2.65).
Moissanite has unparalleled sparkle! It has a higher refractive index than diamond, resulting in greater brilliance than diamond. Moissanite also has greater dispersion (fire) than a diamond, so you will notice more rainbow flashes of light.

Generally speaking, if you have very inexpensive and lower quality loose rhinestones, you will want to store them in a dry area that won't be exposed to extreme temperatures. That'll keep your rhinestones looking great for longer.

Only a portion of the light hitting a diamond is reflected; the rest travels through it. As the light moves through the diamond, it is scattered and fractured, creating the sparkle that diamonds are known for. This is the refraction.
The more facets a diamond has, the more reflective surfaces there are to bounce and scatter light. A round brilliant cut diamond with its 57 or 58 facets will appear to have more sparkle than a single-cut diamond with only 17 or 18 facets.
