The episode's most engrossing scene happens early, though, between Daryl and Maggie. After working alongside him in silence for awhile, Maggie finally asks Daryl why he refuses to speak to her. In tears, Daryl says he's sorry and admits that he still believes it was his fault that Negan killed Maggie's husband, Glenn.
She was shocked that he had lied to her for so long, and wished that she had not trusted him from the beginning. Daryl's only explanation was that he had lied to protect his family, which he was sure that she could relate to.
The fact that Lauren Cohan's Maggie even shot Leah in the first place shows that she was willing to kill her. When she missed the killing shot, she could have determined that just one Reaper getting away would be of little consequence and that eliminating the ones present was a bigger priority.
