Why do teenagers follow fashion trends?
Most teens feel that they need to fit in. The majority replicate fashion around them to get feel worthy and valuable. Teens use fashion to maintain friendships and boost their self-regard. Body image is an issue that affects many teenage girls.
A majority of teenagers are influenced by people around them because they feel that they somehow need to fit in. Duplicating the fashion around them gives them a sense of belonging in today's world. Teenagers use fashion to keep friendships and bolster their self-esteem by “mirroring”.
Fashion tells us about a person
The way you dress or the way you put your clothing tells who you are. Even for people who do not care about dressing or how they dress, their outfits can easily speak for them. Hence, it is so important to follow fashion trends because of your own identity.

Trends have affected teenagers to a greater extent. It has affected not only the things they do but also how they carry and conduct themselves. This includes the luggage they carry, the makeup they put on, clothes they wear, physique piercing, and hairstyles among other things.
Fashion enhances human life because not only it allows you to dress fashionably but also gives an opportunity to be independent in your thinking, helps to maintain positive self-esteem, and serves as a form of entertainment. Fashion has taken us all stronger and there is no harm being fashionable but in a limit.
As Northwestern University's Adam Galinsky explained: "Maybe clothes matter because, at that age, you're unsure of status. And there may not be much else for them to base status on." Having the Right Clothes is a way of visually placing themselves within the social hierarchy.
Fashion has the ability to inspire confidence and allow us to flourish, but it can also have negative effects on peoples' mental health, with teenagers being at particular risk. Factors such as body image, peer pressure, class issues and more can all cause fashion to become detrimental to teenage mental health.
Fashion plays a major role in our society and affects the social aspects of society. Fashion in general as many people say is a way to display our personalities. It also displays the feelings and mood of a person, and reflects on who they are and why they choose to wear clothes based on their personal taste.
