Why is Kratos so strong?
In all of the original God of War trilogy games we saw Kratos acquire specific rage induced powers. These were physical manifestations of the rage fueling within Kratos coupled with the divine powers bestowed upon him by higher beings. In God of War, it was the Rage of the Gods.
Although Kratos can exhibit some incredible feats of strength and has a history of killing what some might assume are unkillable and unstoppable gods, he is no match for Ragnarok itself.
Being the son of Zeus would mean instant Super Strength, and Kratos is a supreme level one at that. His feats of strength are stuff of legend. He was able to withstand attacks from gargantuan titans and even overpower them.
Kratos's physical strength is mostly from being a son of zeus, as he has had his abilities from ares stripped from him before, along with his godly powers and has been shown to outbox Heracles. It wasn't present much in GOW1 because the studio wasn't aware of Kratos's close Greek namesake, the god of power, Cratus.
Other characters like Alucard, Ōnoki, Anos Voldigoad, Lelouch, Kaguya Otsutsuki, and many more possess unique abilities and powers that can disintegrate, immobilize, or overpower Kratos in combat.
We'll update this list in the future as Kratos kills more of Greek mythology's most important gods and people, which at current count is 23. Non-gods and nobodies that Kratos has killed is currently a 15 digit number. Please note that many of the videos in this feature are just a little bit incredibly violent.
6 Zeus (God Of Lightning)
The two powerhouses face off in a heated battle between father and son. Kratos stabs Zeus with the Blade of Olympus, then Zeus uses the blade against Kratos. But Kratos finishes the deed by beating Zeus to a bloody pulp with his bare hands (not unlike how he defeated Hercules).
Although Kratos can exhibit some incredible feats of strength and has a history of killing what some might assume are unkillable and unstoppable gods, he is no match for Ragnarok itself. Ragnarok is the culmination of Surtr, his wife's heart, and the fire from the Blades of Chaos.
The Blade of Olympus, the weapon that won the Great War. The blade is gifted to Kratos after ascending to the new God of War by Zeus. Draining his power into the blade, he empowered the blade to an actual godly status of deadly.
1 Weakness: His Nightmares Up until God of War III, Kratos is plagued by nightmares, which partially explains why he's so vulnerable to illusions and mind tricks. It also, of course, explains his unquenchable rage. At the end of the day, Kratos' nightmares are one of his greatest weaknesses.
Is Kratos a full god or a Demigod?

While he wouldn't know it for most of his life, Kratos was a demigod as he is the son of Zeus, but he would later become a full-on god, the God of War to be precise, after killing Ares.
What is Kratos's full power level? He's been able to take on an impact force of literally 1.6 trillion Newtons. He is able to lift at least 18.5 million tons. Well, it does make sense considering the fact that Kratos has literally killed nearly all of the Greek Gods, including Zeus, Hercules, and even the God of Death.
He directly said that he can lift the world like Atlas but struggles with a chest and we just have to accept that in the context of the game.
Boomstick: the reality is that although Kratos has beaten gods and is a god himself , Goku is just simply too strong and is On a Whole different level , he's Beaten people who can destroy entire solar systems , something Kratos hasn't Gotten close too at all.
This isn't really a match up… Kratos wins by a landslide.
Kratos then joined the Spartan army in Rhodes, intent on destruction. Zeus, however, weakens Kratos and tricks him into abandoning his godly powers into the Blade of Olympus, which Zeus uses to kill him.
This is because, for a decade (10 years), Kratos had faithfully served the Olympian Gods, yet, he felt like they didn't care about him or respect him, despite him doing their bidding. Plus, he felt like he was just a pawn to be manipulated and would, ultimately, be killed off, once he's outlived his usefulness.
Still, they have their own set of setbacks along the way, most of them because Kratos tried to hide Atreus' divine ancestry as well as he could. In the end, Atreus learns the truth about himself. He is part god, part giant, and has another name, Loki.
Unaware of the actual mythological god named Kratos appearing in Prometheus Bound, the creators coincidentally chose the name Kratos, the same Greek word meaning "Strength", of which the mythological figure Kratos is the personification.
Lesser Greek Gods Kratos Didn't Kill These more sensible Olympians are: Phobos, the god of fear; Circe, goddess of magic; Amphitrite, the Queen of the Sea; Triton, the god of the waves; Nike, god of victory. But there gods were not alone.
How old is Kratos?
In God of War Ragnarök, it's likely that Kratos is around 1,055 years old. He's something of an old man, but as a demigod, he is still more than young enough to hold his own and then some in battle. Unfortunately, this is based on maths and educated guesses.

Could Kratos have defeated Odin by himself? If Atreus was safely out of the way, a fully focused Kratos, at the height of his game with legendary weapons designed for killing Gods, unleashing all his rage and fury, would end Odin in short order.
Kratos' strength is apparently unmatched and nearly unlimited, stronger than Zeus and Hercules. This ability allows one to lift massive weights, crack or shatter stone with a single punch, break chains barehanded, and overpower mortals and beasts.
When kratos unlocks the full power of hope, his power is limitless indefinitely. You can put anyone in front of him, anything, and he will come out victorious. The power of hope is a cosmic entity that predates the primordials. It is basically the phoenix force, but hope influences everything.
Born a Spartan, Kratos held the military rank of General, before extracting his revenge on the Olympians who betrayed him.
The chains of the blades were permanently seared onto the forearms of the wielder, which served as a reminder of their oath to the God of War, and could only be removed either by the God of War himself or when the wielder's time of servitude ended.
Kratos may be a God, but even he cannot survive a Hakai burst. Beerus is strong enough to destroy half a planet with his finger, so a full-on punch should be able to take Kratos down. If Kratos tries to use any of his godly weapons or shield, Beerus can instantly destroy them with a Ki blast.
Fear Factor. Kratos is afraid of being found by others who might know of his deeds. He's afraid of how his legacy will come to affect Atreus, his son, and he's afraid that if the boy knows his history, he'll despise him.
Kratos, being a God of War, obviously gets powers such as quasi-invulnerability, enhanced strength, combat skills, etc. But he's the son of none other than the king of gods, Zeus himself. Aside from Hercules-like qualities, Kratos has a few more tricks up his sleeves.
How tall is Kratos?

Early scripts listed him as 6 feet 6 inches tall, while recently, a Santa Monica Studio dev stated that Kratos is 7 feet 6 inches in the comic books and about 6 feet 4 inches in the game.
Initially, the name John Kratos was nothing more than a joke shared on Twitter by The Guardian's gaming editor, Keza MacDonald. But as is the case with so much internet content these days, it soon gained its own lifeforce, eventually leading to PlayStation canonising the name.
The leading theories include the possibility of Deimos' birthmark being genetic and Atreus' scars being related, as well as possible self-scarification as a young Atreus was trying to look more like his father. Alternatively, it's just a coincidence, and Atreus got his scars in an accident or fight.
He becomes the full fledged God of war at the end, given the full powers of an olympian and of a God of war. GOW 2: At the beginning of the game, i would say this is where kratos is at his most powerful throughout the entire franchise, the only exception being at the end of GOW 3 when he uses the full power of Hope.

the Icatus Wings needs steam vents so that it can last longer. It can't really fly on it's own and when Kratos was falling, there was no steam vent in sight.

Who is Kratos rival?

Superman would obliterate Kratos. Literally, Superman has the advantage in nearly, if not ALL categories. Saying Kratos has infinite speed and he is speed of light? That's nothing for Superman as he has break the bonds of infinity accidentally.
Doom Slayer would easily get the upper hand early on thanks to his range. His weapons can unleash Hell on Kratos, thanks to the sheer variety of ranged pain at his disposal. However, one wrong move and the Blades of Chaos could reach Doom Slayer, enabling Kratos to zoom in and unleash his devastating combos.
Kratos wins by a landslide. Despite what people think, Hagoromo (sage of six paths) was considered a god in the ninja world. He wasn't a real god…..he was just more powerful than most. Sasuke has half of Hagoromos powers so he's basically an half god, compared to the rest of ninja world.
This was confirmed by the game developers. Kratos in the Norse saga appears weaker for a couple of reasons. #1 - Kratos lost all of his Greek magic when he destroyed his homeland and sailed away. So his magic died with Olympus or was left behind when he sailed away.

The penance stare alone would kill Kratos because of the unbelievable amount of sins that Kratos has committed. Like killing his wife and daughter (yes he was tricked, but he still feels guilty about it.)

Who is more powerful Odin or Kratos?
The blades Kratos uses are more powerful than Odin's magic. His blades can create flames in Helheim, an impossible feat for even Odin's magic. We know his blades were made by the mighty Ares, killed by Kratos himself. Ares is prominently stronger than Odin, implying that Kratos is stronger than Aesir.
However, Kratos did not kill all the gods, and there are close to a dozen Olympians that managed to survive Kratos' path of destruction.

Has Kratos ever lost a fight? That's his curse, to literally never die. The only way kratos has ever lost a fight was when Zeus the king of all gods had to drain Kratos of all his power back in God of war 2.

Under Ares, Kratos committed many violent acts and was eventually tricked into killing his family. This caused the Spartan to seek vengeance against the god, something that was encouraged by the other gods.
He lacks his magic due to his homeland being destroyed as described here: He's also holding back which is been mentioned multiple times, especially in the Thor fight at the beginning of the game. He also lacks his tools he was uh… borrowing from other gods of Olympus.

In Greek mythology, Kratos, also known as Cratus or Cratos, is the divine personification of strength. He is the son of Pallas and Styx. Kratos and his siblings Nike ('Victory'), Bia ('Force'), and Zelus ('Glory') are all the personification of a specific trait.
Both, in their own way, have regenerative powers. Kratos' is faster acting (he can heal wounds within minutes), while Jesus' is stronger (you may recall he rose from the dead). However, I'm gonna give this one to Kratos. In a fight, it's the stamina to keep going that counts.
