Trendalytics released its latest Beauty Forecast report—here's a peek at what will be trending in 2023.
These four key trend directions may soon influence everything, from hair and makeup to ingredients—and colors for packaging.
Trendalytics is a "brand intelligence platform." Its team uses a proprietary algorithm to identify themes. Trends are categorized according to where each is in its lifecycle—'emerging' or 'safe bets'.
Several trends are noted within each trend story below, and whether it is an 'emerging' trend or a 'safe bet' is noted. Trendalytics explains that emerging trends are likely to grow, while safe bets have been growing—and are expected to continue.

#1—New Natural
The New Natural trend is about hydrating formulas, slicked-back hair, minimal makeup, and a fresh color palette that includesIce Blue, Taupe, and Peach. It's an "evolved clean" look that means "inclusivity and enhancing what makes us unique," Trendalytics states.
The 'New Natural' trend includes makeup with skincare ingredients, sheer formulas, and "glazed donut skin."Take a look at the #CleanLook hashtag on TikTok, which has over 93M views.
Trendalytics' report also mentions several skincare brands that have entered haircare, includingDr. Barbara Sturm, Drunk Elephant, and Sunday Riley.

#2—Nocturne
'Nocturne' is a trend direction that "finds beauty in all that happens after dark," Trendalytics' report states. It includes "Indie Sleaze"—think grunge, reinvented.HBO's Euphoria exemplifies this trendand "has successfully created its own aesthetic identity," states the report.
Colors include deep hues combined with brights "to reflect thedichotomy of glam and grunge," Trendalytics states. Lime green,onyx, and burgundy are shown.
Brand to watch—4AM Skin, inspired by 'club culture' and has a mission to give back to theLGBTQ+ community.

'Verano' is about reconnecting with nature, natural ingredients, andrituals rooted in Latinx culture. Colors are a tropical palette, including terracotta, bright marigold, and deep sage.
'Beachy' looks are a part of this trend story—think textured hair, minimal makeup, and sea-inspired smells. Global influences will also be a factor, such as the vibrant markets and street art inIndia, Madagascar, and Mexico.
"For Gen Z, addressing the climate crisis is a priority and their buying decisions reflect that," states the report.
Brand to watch—Cermonia, a haircare rooted in Latinx heritage that curates ingredients from Latin America.
