Take Loewe, the fashion crowd’s favourite agenda-setting label, which sent generously-proportioned cardigans down its AW23 runway paired with colour-match knitted skirts and equally roomy tote bags. Then there was Prada, that gave the cardigan a corporate (in the chicest way possible) twist via a ribbed silhouette layered over a dagger collar shirt and tailored cigarette trousers. We also can’t ignore the Miu Miu show, which was a veritable celebration of the knitted staple, styling prim and proper crew neck cardis with everything from cheeky mesh midis and knitted knickers (yes really), to classic tailored trousers and tweed pencil skirts. Proof of the, somewhat unexpected, versatility of the cardigan.
