Adrienne Bailon Houghton just showed off her dramatic weight loss. The former Cheetah Girls singer and The Real co-host shared a bikini video to Instagram—the first in a year—with a lengthy caption detailing her 20-pound weight loss journey.

“During this time more than ever... Staying healthy is at the top of my mind! This is my first post in a bathing suit since losing 20 pounds,” she wrote in the caption. “Now... I’ve lost weight before but always gained it back... because I was dieting and not changing my lifestyle!”

Last year, the actress said she “had enough” and was tired of complaining. She decided to take action and overhaul her habits. “Well, I made major changes like choosing to eat plant based 🌱 changing my whole relationship with food and working out!” Bailon said. “I’ve been consistent with my self-discipline (although it’s been so hard at times). I’m constantly reminding myself that the greatest form of self-love is self-discipline!”

The 36-year-old is encouraging others to make healthy changes while stuck in quarantine. “Drink your water, squat, rest, read, pray, take your vitamins, eat your veggies! (Preaching to myself to keep going! Lol.) It’s a new month! Let’s do this!” she concluded.

Fans flooded the post with messages of congratulations. “You look fantastic, Adrienne! And most importantly, so happy that you’re FEELING fantastic, too!” one fan wrote, while another person commented, “Proud of you and feeling inspired!”

In December, Bailon shared a video to her YouTube channel all about her weight loss journey. “I want to be healthy. I don’t want to go on a diet, I want this to be a lifestyle,” she recalled thinking before overhauling her diet and fitness routine. The singer wrote out her goals and gave herself some deadlines. “For me this wasn’t a body makeover—it was mind, body, and soul.”

To lose weight, Bailon said she would eat greens, oatmeal with blueberries, avocado toast on Ezekial bread or rice cakes, or protein shakes for breakfast. Her lunches often were salads with arugula, peppers, and other veggies. She snacked on nuts and popcorn, and for dinner, the singer ate vegan chili, lentil soup, roasted mushrooms, kale, and steamed broccoli.

“I felt so good about myself because I was filling myself with such nutritional foods,” she said, adding that she also would drink a gallon of water a day. Hot water with lemon helped her combat cravings. She also skipped dining out.

Bailon also amped up her fitness routine when she was filming The Masked Singer in the fall. “Preparing for The Masked Singer really helped me with my fitness goals. I knew that I’d be singing, dancing at the same time and doing all of that with a 20-pound suit on me,” she said. It inspired her to get her stamina up.

“I would get on the elliptical machine every day, every morning. I did 45 minutes a day and I would sing at the top of my lungs whatever song I was preparing for,” she said. She also did strength training and used 8 Fit app for workouts at home.

“I was so focused on my goal and shooting Masked Singer and doing these performances, honestly I didn’t notice I was losing the weight until we had to tape my costume in,” she said. When I got back to The Real in September, everyone was like, ‘You’re so tiny!’”

Bailon said seeing the difference was “crazy.” “There’s something so dope about achieving your goals and for me, it was knowing I absolutely can do this. It is possible. It just takes self-discipline. And that makes me feel great,” she said.
