Al Pacino’s Watches
Al Pacino needs no introduction. With an acting career spanning over five decades, dozens of awards and iconic films such as The Godfather, Scarface, andHeat,he has become an enduring figure in the world of American movies.
The actor, who just turned 80 this year, shows no signs of stopping. In fact, he even made a career-defining movie in 2019 with Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman. Known for his intense and explosive acting style, he’s quite laid back in real life, even when it comes to his personal style.
Here’s a look back on Al Pacino’s watches through the years, plus what he wears on his wrist these days.
Rolex Submariner Date
Al has been most photographed wearing his trademark Rolex Submariner Date. The ref 16610 is a popular version of the Submariner that came to market in the 1980s; and was produced until the 2000s. This variation is pre-Cerachrom and Maxi Dial era, so while it also measures 40mm, it has a slimmer look on the wrist.
The Rolex Submariner, of course, is a diver’s timepiece at its core, but it has become a daily wearer and all-occasion watch for many. Its immense appeal lies in its durable and ruggedly handsome looks that adapt to any look, style or age.
Rolex Datejust Steel Yellow Gold Vintage
In 1992, Al starred in the drama movie, Glengarry Glen Ross, which chronicles the life of four Chicago real estate agents. Al’s character wore a Rolesor steel and 18k yellow gold Rolex Datejust under his suit. True to the era, the watch was fitted with a Jubilee bracelet.
In real life, one of Al’s first watches was a Rolex Datejust. In an interview, Al said he dreamt of getting a Datejust for many years; and couldn’t stop showing it off once he did.
Tag Heuer Monaco
In the 2000s, we saw Al wear two Tag Heuer watches in his films: theTag Heuer Link in 2002’sInsomnia,and the Tag Heuer Monaco in the 2007 thriller88 Minutes.
The Tag Heuer Monaco is one of the brand’s most iconic designs, made popular on the wrist of actor-racer Steve McQueen. The Monaco was the first square water resistantautomatic chronograph, launched by Heuerback in 1969. This sleek black modern version carriedtheclassic into a new era.
The Tag Heuer Link is famous for its S-shaped bracelet, which was actually the first element they designed on the watch. Its streamlined form and silhouette makes the Tag Heuer Link an ideal watch for daily wear.
Rolex Cellini Prince
In 2007, Al joined the all-star cast of the bank heist comedyOcean’s Thirteen. In the film, he plays a double-crossing owner of a high-end casino, so he of course had to dress the part. He wore an assembly of fine suits and an 18k yellow gold Rolex Cellini Prince on his wrist.
Introduced in the 1920’s, it was the rectangular Cellini Prince that gave Rolex its reputation for refinement and luxury – even before its now-iconic Oyster-cased brethren came along.
Jaeger LeCoultre Reserve de Marche
On the red carpet and in press conferences, Al seems to favor Jaeger LeCoultre timepieces. We’ve spotted him with not one, but 3 watches from the Grande Maison.
The Jaeger LeCoultre Reserve de Marche combines ingenious watchmaking complications, with a timeless and easily readable design. The Reserve de Marche is a line oftraditionally styled watches with complicated-but-harmonious dial layouts typicallyconsisting of a datesubdialat 2 o’clockand a powerreserve at 10.
Jaeger LeCoultre Master Navy Seals
While Jaeger LeCoultre is known for its sophisticated and complicated dress watches, they also have robust and capable sport watches in their portfolio.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor that Al wears above is part of the limited-edition Army Navy Seals line — designed with the input of no less than the United States Navy SEALs to ensure that they can live up to intense training and harsh environments.
Al also wears the Jaeger LeCoultre Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph, which honors the Memovox Deep Sea Alarm of the late 1950s. The unique bezel, aged-looking triangles and plain engraved numbering were inspired by one of the more famous models in JLC’s long and illustrious history.
