Roger Federer returned to Wimbledon this week—a likely place for him to be. But rather than taking up his usual spot on Center Court, the now-retired tennis legend spent his day in the stands. Fed still scored a lengthy Cannes-level standing ovation as he entered the Royal Box to sit alongside the Princess of Wales. But fans weren’t just clapping out of respect for his GOAT-worthy career. We had eyes on his GOAT-worthy grail too, sporting the brand-new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky Dweller.

Federer, who has been a global ambassador to Rolex since 2006, remains as unrivaled on the court as he does with his collection of Rolexes. The Sky Dweller, which made its debut in 2012, is a relatively new addition to the Rolex catalog. Still, the Crown continues to tinker with it, inching it ever closer to perfection as the brand is wont to do. This version of the watch was introduced just a few months ago at Watches & Wonders in March.
We’ve already seen Federer be the man entrusted with premiering Rolex’s new slate of watches. He was the first person in the world to publicly wear the new 1908 at this year’s Met Gala, and in May, he sported the freshly madeover Daytona. Now, he’s one of the first to take the new Sky Dweller out for a spin.
Think of the Sky Dweller as the luxury version of Rolex’s GMT, much like how the Yacht-Master compares to the Submariner. Both the GMT and Sky Dweller track two time zones, but they do it in very different ways. While the GMT uses an extra hand, the Sky Dweller is fitted with a 24-hour wheel at the center that slowly rotates throughout the day. The renaissance of the Sky-Dweller range brings new colorways, from black and white gold, mint green and white Rolesor to Federer’s choice: an elegant blue-green exclusively in 18-karat Everose Gold on an Oyster bracelet. Federer might be retired from tennis, but he’s still at the top of his watch game.

Does David Beckham own almost as many watches as goals he’s scored? It seems like it. The real MVP of the retired midfielder’s collection is the Tudor Black Bay 58, which he wore in the Royal Box at Wimbledon this week. Beckham mastered the occasion with a dial as green as the grass on Center Court and an 18-karat yellow gold case. Beckham is a friend of the brand, but despite having unparalleled access to Tudor’s catalog, it seems he’s always coming back to the Black Bay.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Bulgari Serpenti
This is a vital vintage moment! It’s Fleabag’s finest, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, promoting her new film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny wearing the coiled Serpenti Tubogas. The watch appears to be a favorite of hers: she also wore it while sitting for the New York Times this week (hat tip Dimepiece). The title of her movie seems prophetic: Waller-Bridge was destined to wear this very dial, with a more unusual rectangular case and black matte dial, in her typical unorthodox style. The watch’s distinctive wraparound band mirrors the movement of a snake, and Waller-Bridge’s comes in 18-carat gold. We hiss with happiness.

Donna Vekić’s F.P. Journe Elegante
It’s still just the first week of Wimbledon, but Croatian player Donna Vekić might have already won the tournament—at least as far as watches concerned. It would’ve been newsworthy to see an F.P Journe Elegante this beautiful—featuring an olive green case, 38 brilliant cut diamonds, and a contrasting baby pink rubber strap—in the stands, but Vekić actually played on the court while wearing it. Game, set, match.
