Enid[]

You're doing this, I want to hear my crooner boyfriend croon.

―Enid convincing Alden to sing onstage with Luke[src]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (1)

Alden and Enid have a romantic relationship, and when she came to check on Henry during his first day blacksmithing, Enid and him kiss. They are shown to be sleeping together in "Bounty". Though it appears the relationship didn't become official until "The Calm Before" when Enid calls Alden her boyfriend, which he is surprised by. He was noticeably worried about her when he couldn't find her in the crowd at the fair, and is saddened by her death. Enid's death leads Alden to become vengeful against the Whisperers and also causes him to hold a grudge against Lydia, blaming her for Enid's death.

Maggie Rhee[]

You know, I... I can build things, I can make some of that stuff real, for this place, for these people. It's what I want to do with my life. And, no joke, you, uh... You gave me that life, so...

―Alden to Maggie, explaining why he wants to stay at Hilltop.[src]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (2)

Maggie and Alden have a neutral relationship. Initially Maggie hated Alden, due to him being member of the Saviors. However, Maggie also treated Alden with more respect than the other Savior prisoners and treated him with a degree of kindness that meant a great deal to him.

In "Do Not Send Us Astray", when Saviors assaulted the Hilltop, Maggie changed her opinion on Alden, because he assisted in protecting the community, instead of running away. Afterwards, Maggie set Alden and the other prisoners free and allowed them to join the community though she refused to trust them completely as members of the Militia.

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (3)

Alden has shown his loyalty to Hilltop after suggesting to Maggie about helping construct thing from the book "A Key to the Future" to help build up the community, using his skills for something good in a place he feels more at home than ever before. Maggie, now fully trusting Alden, agrees to allow him to stay and help.

Alden, Maggie, and a small group go to Meridian to get food for Alexandria. However, Alden ends up getting wounded by the Reapers. Maggie refuses to leave Alden behind but eventually does so at a church after Alden convinces her. When she returns, she finds that Alden has died, causing her to break down in tears. Maggie buries Alden's body outside the church.

Rick Grimes[]

I'll talk to Rick about making everyone feel safer.

―Alden telling the Saviors he'll talk to Rick about giving them guns.[src]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (4)

During the events of All Out War, Rick is skeptical about Alden and does not trust him. A year and a half later, Alden has become the main voice of the Saviors, relaying their concerns to Rick and updating him on the progress of the bridge. He has enough confidence in his relationship with Rick that when Rick stated that they would protect the Saviors while they worked, he asked "they work for you and you protect them. What does that sound like to you?", calling him out on the fact that he was taking a Savior mentality about the situation.

Carol Peletier[]

Alden and Carol have a good relationship. In "The Obliged", Carol trusts Alden to take the Saviors back to the Sanctuary. When Jed and the other rouge saviors start their coup, Jed, tells Carol that he was faster than his friend Alden and took his gun. This makes Carol concerned about Alden's wellbeing. Six years later in "Evolution", Carol when takes Henry to Hilltop to learn the trade of blacksmith, Alden promises Carol that they would take care of him.

Daryl Dixon[]

Although Alden and Daryl have not interacted much, it is seen that they have a neutral relationship. In "The Storm", Alden confronts Lydia, and Daryl comes out in defense of her and tells him to shut up, although Daryl and Alden respect each other. He trusts Alden just like his friend Rick Grimes. The two go on a mission to Meridian to get food. Daryl is shown to be saddened by Alden's death.

Negan Smith[]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (5)

I'm really close to shovin' a gag in your mouth.

―Alden to Negan in the subway tunnels.[src]

Alden and Negan have little interaction, however he appears to not be as loyal to him as most Saviors. In the episode "Do Not Send Us Astray", Alden realizes that it means nothing to Negan and Simon. In Season 11, Alden joins a group to get food from Meridian, among them being Negan. Alden is shown to dislike and frequently opposes his opinions. In the church, Alden tells Maggie that he joined her side rather than the Saviors because she trusts him more than Maggie.

Henry Sutton[]

Hey kid, I get it. My big brother died too.

―Alden relating to Henry about their dead siblings.[src]

Henry and Alden have a generally positive relationship. During the events of All Out War, when Henry sneaks into Maggie's pen of Saviors to find who killed his brother, Alden attempts to talk him down from killing anyone, telling him that it won't make him feel better. After the six year time jump, the two seem to get along. Alden is teaching Henry in blacksmithing and has showed him things like how to make a spearhead. Though Henry becomes visibly jealous of Alden when he discovers the latter is in a relationship with Enid.

Simon[]

Alden and Simon have a neutral but more labor relationship, although the series has only been seen interacting with Simon in the episode "Do Not Send Us Astray", in which Alden tries to convince Simon not to attack Hilltop, Simon ignores him and tells him that he doesn't care about him and the other Saviors that are in Hilltop, Alden is disappointed with Simon and realizes that he doesn't care about Saviors.

Earl Sutton[]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (6)

Alden will take good care of Adam.

―Earl to Judith about Alden.[src]

Alden and Earl have a positive working relationship, as Earl has taken Alden on as his apprentice. Alden looks up to Earl as a mentor figure. In "Bounty," its mentioned that Earl and his wife Tammy Rose have become like parents to Alden and Enid. As a result, Earl takes Alden's disappearance hard. Alden is shown to take Earl's side on multiple occasions, such as sharing their distrust of Mary. When Earl is dying of a walker bite, he states that he is confident that Alden will be a good father to Adam. Alden is saddened about Earl's death and makes sure to take care of Adam in his memory.

Jared[]

You already screwed up once. I'm not gonna let you get us all killed.

―Alden to Jared.[src]

Alden and Jared have presumably a poor relationship. When Jared tried to free himself from his binds at the Hilltop Colony, Alden bumped into him and stated that he does not want that Jared to get all the other Saviors, including Alden himself in trouble, after risking their safety one time before.

Jed[]

Us? You're not one of us anymore.

―Jed to Alden.[src]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (7)

Jed and Alden have a negative relationship. After the events of All Out War, Jed no longer sees Alden as a Savior or any sort of friend, punching him when Alden tried to quiet the tension between the Saviors and the other communities while working on the bridge, telling him to "shovel that horsesh*t to whoever killed Justin", and shaking his head at him when the situation was over.

Luke Abrams[]

That's perfect. We're gonna knock them dead at this fair man. Yeah! Two-man band!

―Luke to Alden about singing[src]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (8)

In a short time, Alden and Luke became friends very quickly. The two go on a search party to find a group who haven't come back. They both end up being captured by the Whisperers but end up returning safely. They bond over their love of music and jokingly talk about making a two-man band performing at the festival. At the fair, despite losing the bet, Luke still tries to convince Alden to sing at the fair. Eventually Alden caves in after some convincing by Enid and the two become a two-man band.

Lydia[]

People watching us now huh? We followed their rules, haven't they done enough to us?

―Alden blaming Lydia for the Whisperer attacks.[src]

Alden (TV Series)/Relationships (9)

Alden and Lydia have a poor relationship. He blames her for the death of Enid and feels like Lydia is still one of them. When spotting a few walkers in a field as the Kingdom makes their way to Hilltop, Alden takes the chance to show hostility towards Lydia and make it clear he still views her as a Whisperer before being told off by Daryl.

Mary[]

Like Lydia, Alden is untrusting and hostile to Mary due to per past affiliations with the Whisperers despite having once been a Savior himself. He is enraged at the idea of letting her see her nephew, Adam, and angrily escorts her away from him when she tries to see him later. After the Hilltop is attacked by the Whisperers, Alden holds Adam as Mary and Kelly get away. Despite Alden still refusing Mary to hold him eventually he agrees and let's her hold him in order to calm Adam down from crying. Seeing Mary's obvious affection for her nephew finally causes Alden to lose his antagonistic attitude towards Mary and become friendly towards her before Mary's sacrifice.
