Updated for 2019 is my list of best personal finance related YouTube channels. I originally wrote this post a few years ago, but I’m republishing it today with an updated list of YouTube channels I’ve been watching that you might want to watch too.

There’s a lot of great content out there that can help you improve your finances – way more than anyone can discover by themselves. For the past few years, almost all of the content I’ve consumed has come in the form of blogs and podcasts. I recapped 9 of my favorite podcasts in another post.

But I’ve discovered that YouTube, far from being a place for cat videos and other silly stuff, is an incredible place to gain knowledge and inspiration. A lot of these videos are ones that you can just listen to while you’re doing other things, so you don’t need to sit down and watch them straight through like you would with a TV show.

YouTube videos won’t be for everyone. And we all have different ways of consuming content. The key is to pick the way that works best for you.

What follows is a post that shares some of my favorite YouTube channels that I’ve been watching over the past few months or years. I think all of these channels can help readers like you who are interested in improving or optimizing your finances.

Favorite Personal Finance Related YouTube Channels

1. Beat The Bush

Beat The Bush, as described by the host, makes videos about credit cards, personal finance, early retirement, and finance hacks. For readers of this blog, this information is right up our alley.

Topics on this channel range all over – from credits cards to traditional personal finance topics to just random life hack stuff. This was one of the first personal finance YouTube channels I started following, and one I still watch regularly.

2. Graham Stephan

Graham Stephan is a real estate investor and entrepreneur that puts out a lot of good videos covering money and real estate. I think he does a good job tackling a lot of different personal finance related topics, and importantly, he does so in an interesting way. If you’re looking for information and inspiration about how to generate more income, this is a good channel to look into.

3. Ryan Scribner

I really have a lot of respect for people that take chances and follow their dreams. Ryan Scribner seems to have done that, as he went from having a steady job with a utility company, did YouTube on the side, then after getting some traction, decided to take a risk and go all-in on his passion.

He covers a lot of basic topics, but the topics I enjoy most are when he goes into his own story of entrepreneurship and creating multiple income sources. Definitely worth subscribing to if you’re looking to learn more and figure out ways to make more income.

4. Minority Mindset

Minority Mindset is a YouTube channel I watch when I’m looking for inspiration and advice on how to improve my own thinking. The host is Jaspreet Singh, and he has a lot of videos about how to think about the world and live life differently (i.e. living the minority mindset, not the majority mindset).

Interestingly, Jaspreet went to law school because that’s what he thought he was supposed to do. He ended up going out and doing his own thing instead of practicing law. If you want to learn how to think differently, you should watch this channel.

5. One Big Happy Life

Joseph and Tasha from One Big Happy Life popped up on my radar when I saw a video they made about how they have 1 million dollars worth of student loans. This particular video really clicked with me, and I’ve been tuning in regularly ever since to see what’s going on with their lives.

Both of them went to law school, so I relate to them as an attorney that also went to law school and took out student loans to do so. They are super transparent with their finances and budget, which I really appreciate – money is just a lot easier to think about when you can see real numbers. Be sure to check them out.

6. Vanessa Lau

Vanessa Lau is a newer channel I recently found when I went on YouTube and searched for “how to quit my job.” Like I’ve mentioned before, I have a ton of respect for people who realize when something isn’t working out and instead of letting themselves get stuck, go and chase their dreams.

This is exactly what Vanessa did. She worked hard in school, was in the beginning stages of a good career, but then quit that in order to chase her dream of entrepreneurship and building her own business. I’m firm in my belief that all of us have the ability to impact people and support ourselves doing the things we love, and Vanessa’s channel really resonated with me as I’ve continued to grow my own blog. If you want information about money, careers, and passions, this is a great channel to start following.

Favorite Credit Card/Travel Rewards Related YouTube Channels

1. Ask Sebby

Travel hacking is pretty complicated – it’s why there are so many blogs and podcasts that talk about this topic. For a newbie starting out, just getting started can be pretty intimidating.

Thankfully, I found a great YouTube channel called Ask Sebby. Hosted by Sebastian Fung, Ask Sebbyhas been an invaluable source forme as I’ve been figuring out my way through this complicated world. He releases a new videoevery day and I pretty much watch them as soon as they come out.

In terms of content, Ask Sebby focuses primarily on credit cards and travel hacking, with the occasional dip into other personal finance topics. It’s great for anyone who’s into travel hacking or optimizing their finances (like a lot of you probably are). If those are topics that interest you, then this is the #1 channel you should be watching.

2. The Credit Shifu

The Credit Shifu is another travel hacking/credit card YouTube channel that I’ve been following for a while now. Like a lot of these type of channels, Credit Shifu goes in-depth into a lot of credit card and travel hacking topics. He’s worth taking a look at if you’re trying to learn as much as you can about how to optimize your credit card use.

3. Travel Rewards Coach

The Travel Rewards Coach is awesome also. His channel has gone through a couple of name changes in recent months, but it’s still the same good content. He provides a bit of a different style of video compared to AskSebby or Credit Shifu. Really in-depth and informative stuff. I especially like his surfer bro demeanor.

4. Waller’s Wallet

Waller’s Wallet is another points and miles YouTuber that puts out some great content and that I follow regularly. Very informative stuff and he does a lot of walkthroughs that are really helpful. I also recently learned that he’s a former pharmacist that took the leap to YouTube to try to follow his passions. That gives him mad props in my book.

5. Trip Astute

You can probably tell by now, but it seems like travel hacking and credit card stuff lends itself well to YouTube channels. For whatever reason, I find it easier to consume my travel hacking and credit card information in video form, rather than in a blog post or podcast.

Trip Astute is another travel/credit card channel that covers those topics. The production quality is especially good. On this channel, you’ll learn, not only about travel hacking and credit cards, but also about basic travel stuff that’s worth knowing.

Final Thoughts

There are way more YouTube channels out there that are worth checking out, but these are just a few of my favorite ones that I keep coming back to regularly. The key with them is that they’re entertaining, but also informative. I learn something from pretty much all of them.

Check them out and let me know what you think. Or if you have any favorites, let me know about them. I’m always looking for new stuff that can grab my attention.

More Recommended Ebike/Scooters

Check out these other ebikes and scooters I've reviewed:

  • Urban Arrow Ebike – Last year, I made one of the largest purchases I’ve ever made – I bought a $9,000 electric cargo bike from Urban Arrow. In my Urban Arrow review, I will discuss what it is and why I decided to buy this bike, as well as discuss how impactful a bike like this can be on your journey to financial independence.
  • Troxus Explorer Step-Thru Ebike – The Troxus Explorer Step-Thru is a fat-tire ebike that I’ve had the pleasure of riding for a while now. It has amazing power, great looks, and awesome range. If you’re looking for a great fat-tire ebike that offers a lot for the price, the Troxus Explorer Step-Thru is definitely one for you to consider. Check out my Troxus Explorer Step-Thru Review.
  • Hovsco HovBeta Ebike – The HovBeta is a folding ebike with great specs and a lot of interesting features, and importantly, it’s sold at a good price point. I’ve had a blast commuting with it and using it to do deliveries with DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Check out my Hovsco HovBeta Ebike Review.
  • Vanpowers Manidae Ebike – The Vanpowers Manidae is a fat tire ebike that I’ve been riding as my primary winter commuting bike and have also been using it to do food delivery with apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. After clocking in a decent number of miles with this ebike, I wanted to write a post sharing what my experience with the Vanpowers Manidae ebike has been like. Check out my Vanpowers Manidae Review.
  • Sohamo S3 Step-Thru Folding EBike Review – A Great Value Folding Ebike – The Sohamo S3 Step-Thru Folding Ebike is an entry-level folding ebike that offers a lot of value for the price point. I’ve been riding the Sohamo S3 for a while now, putting the bike through its paces, and I have to say, this bike has exceeded all of my expectations. Check out my Sohamo Review.
  • KBO Flip Ebike – The KBO Flip is an excellent bike. I’ve had a great time riding it and think it’s a versatile bike that can be used for a lot of purposes and can fit a variety of lifestyles. It’s worked out great for me as a general commuter bike and as a food delivery bike. Check out my KBO Flip Review.
  • Hiboy P7 Commuter Ebike – The Hiboy P7 is an excellent electric commuter bike that’s offered at an affordable price point. The range and speed of this bike are both very good, so you won’t have any trouble getting anywhere you need to go with it. As a food delivery vehicle, this is also good – with how much range it offers, you’ll be able to work all day on a single charge. Check out my Hiboy P7 Commuter Electric Bike Review.
  • Himiway Escape Ebike – The Himiway Escape is an interesting bike for anyone looking for a moped-style ebike. If you’re a gig economy worker, the Himiway Escape is particularly interesting and it’s possible to think of it as an investment, especially if you can opt to do deliveries with the Himiway versus using a car. It’s not cheap, but you can definitely make your money back when you compare the mileage you’ll put on your car versus using an ebike. Check out my Himiway Escape Bike Review.
  • Espin Sport Ebike – The Espin Sport is a good ebike for someone who is looking for an ebike that feels and rides more like a regular bike. There are many ebikes that are really only bikes in name. In reality, they’re basically electric mopeds. The Espin Sport, by contrast, is a bike you could probably ride without the battery and you’d feel like you’re just riding a regular bike. Check out my Espin Sport Review.
  • Varla Eagle One Scooter – The Varla Eagle One is an excellent scooter that can make sense for a lot of people. It can work as a primary mode of transportation. You can use it to work on gig economy apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. And it can also be a recreational vehicle if you’d prefer to use it for that. Check out my Varla Eagle One Review.
  • Varla Falcon Scooter – The Varla Falcon is an excellent scooter that offers a good amount of power at a lower price point compared to more powerful scooters. It’s not exactly an entry-level scooter, nor is it a high-powered scooter. I think it fits somewhere in-between those two categories – an intermediate scooter if I had to give it a category. Check out my Varla Falcon Review.
  • Hiboy S2 Scooter – The Hiboy S2 is an excellent entry-level commuter scooter that's perfect for someone looking to save some money in transportation costs and improve their commute. Check out my Hiboy S2 Review.
  • Hiboy S2R Scooter – The Hiboy S2R is one of the more interesting electric scooters I’ve been able to test out. It’s not a high-powered scooter, but for an everyday transport option, it’s very useful, especially given some of the unique features that it has. Indeed, for the price, the Hiboy S2R might be the best value scooter I’ve used. Check out my Hiboy S2R Review.
  • Fucare H3 Scooter – The Fucare H3 is a fun scooter and I’ve enjoyed testing it out. For a daily commuter or quick trips or errands, the Fucare H3 is probably the scooter I’ll use. It’s portable and easy to maneuver, so it’s just easier to take on the road when I need it. Check out my Fucare H3 Scooter Review.
