Blighted Lord (2024)

Fretia, transformed into the Blighted Lord or the Crimson Lord from an overload of Blight, is the final boss of Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. She appears at the bottom of the Verboten Domain.

If the player defeats the Blighted Lord and purifies her without the Luminant Aegis Curio equipped, the player will see Ending B, which also unlocks the Journey's End achievement. If the player has the Curio equipped, an additional phase of the boss fight will occur after purifying her; after defeating this phase, the player will see Ending C, which also unlocks the Dawn Prayer achievement. (There are no achievements specifically for purifying the Blighted Lord, unlike most of the other bosses in the game.)

After seeing Ending B, if the player loads their save data again, the Blighted Phantom will be on the ground next to the bench outside the boss fight. And after seeing Ending C, the Lost Heirloom will be on the ground next to the bench outside the boss fight.

Lore[]

The original Crimson Blighted Lord was an enormously powerful monster of Blight that previously attacked Land's End from the east, leading an army of Blighted horrors. The armies of Land's End, including the Immortal Knights and Fretia, White Priestess of the Fount, engaged in a lengthy and brutal battle against them, which eventually ended in the White Priestess purifying the Blighted Lord. However, the sheer amount of Blight taken into her body caused the White Priestess to collapse and become gravely ill soon afterwards.

By the time Lily reaches Fretia in the Abyss, she has already been subsumed by the Blight, to the point where the Blight leaking from her body manifests as the Rain of Death, ruining the kingdom while also feeding the Blighted flowers that have started growing from Fretia's body. Eventually, the amount of Blight within her transforms Fretia herself into another Blighted Lord, which Lily battles at the bottom of the Abyss.

What happens to the Blighted Lord after the fight depends on whether or not Lily has the Luminant Aegis Curio equipped:

• If she does not, Lily will attempt to purify the Blighted Lord and be overwhelmed by the Blight within them. Fretia's apparition appears and pleads for Lily to stop, but Lily finishes the purification process regardless, merging with Fretia to never be separated again. The two of them now hold back the Blight as one, although it is left ambiguous whether or not they are successful.
• If she does, the purification process will still overwhelm Lily, but the Aegis Curio will dispel the Blight and allow her to stand again as the Blighted Lord gets back up one last time. After defeating the Blighted Lord a second time, she successfully purifies it, freeing Fretia's spirit and eradicating the Blighted Lord, finally bringing the Rain of Death to an end.

Boss Battle[]

The Blighted Lord is a large stationary boss with a single attackable core in her chest. None of her body parts deal contact damage when she is not attacking.

From the beginning of the fight, she can do the following:

• Leans down and coughs up an abyssal eye enemy.
• Rears upwards then slams down with the four spikes on her back. This attack does not cover the center of the stage.
• Brings a spike close to the core and sweeps it outwards in a quick motion, additionally knocking Lily back if it hits her.

At ~72% HP, the Blighted Lord will briefly go invulnerable and gain the following attack:

• Slams a spike down onto the ground, creating a shockwave that travels along the ground, from the spike towards the opposite side of the stage.

At ~39% HP, the Blighted Lord will briefly go invulnerable and gain the following attack:

• Clasps her hands together and generates an orb in front of her, which explodes after a delay to deal damage in a wide area around herself.

If the Aegis Curio is not equipped, the fight ends after defeating her and the player will see Ending B. If it is equipped, she will instead progress to phase 4.

In phase 4, the apparitions of the small White Priestesses appear in the background as the Blighted Lord regains all her health and starts glowing with veins of orange light. In this phase, she retains all of her previous attacks and gains two new ones.

• Clutches her head and summons a barrage of slow but large spheres that home in on Lily from above.
• Claps her hands together, striking the area beneath her core.
• As her health depletes, there is a chance that whenever she tries to summon an abyssal eye, she will instead cough and summon nothing.

Once the Blighted Lord reaches low health (~28%), she will be staggered and the spikes on her back will disintegrate. She will struggle to hold herself upright and will begin crying bright orange tears, periodically clutching her head in pain. She will stop attacking and become completely unable to harm Lily for the rest of the fight, though any creatures she has previously summoned will still attack and can kill them.

On NG+ the following changes apply:

• Blighted Lord starts the fight at 2nd phase.
• The shockwave that travels along the ground has its height increased so that it covers the whole screen. It is no longer possible to avoid it by simply jumping over it.
• Transition to 3rd phase occures at ~55% HP.
• During 4th phase she will not be staggered and will not stop attacking until the very end.

Spoils[]

As stated above, after seeing Ending B, the Blighted Phantom will appear in the Blighted Heart Respite outside the room where the Blighted Lord is fought, allowing Lily to change her appearance to her "corrupted" form. And after seeing Ending C, the Lost Heirloom will appear in the Respite, which restores Lily's appearance to her fully purified self.

FRETIA: Or you, too, will be consumed by my Blight.

FRETIA: Surely your path took you past those flowers...

FRETIA: Thriving on the rain they blossom off my Blighted body, the root of the scourge.

FRETIA: I can feel the Blight surging through my body...

FRETIA: If only I had control over its spread...

FRETIA: Then I could stop it at its source.

FRETIA: Perhaps a day will come when I can hold the Blight without it seeping out.

FRETIA: Not that it matters anymore...

FRETIA: I wish the world didn't require that you bear the burden of the Blight.

FRETIA: You're the only clone of myself left.

UMBRAL KNIGHT: Lily...Even knowing what you do now...

Trivia[]

• In the Purified Memories boss rematch mode, the Blighted Lord will not transition to 4th phase regardless of whether the Luminant Aegis Curio is equipped.
  To experience whole fight again one will have to enter boss location manually from the Blighted Heart's respite.
