More than a third of the factories fast fashion giant Boohoo has approved for use are in China, the company showed on Monday, as it revealed for the first time a full list of where exactly its goods are made.
It today published a list of around 1,100 factories it uses, following an extensive period of mapping and auditing which initially began in 2020.
The firm’s Leicester supply chain came under the spotlight last year following reports of alleged low pay and unsafe conditions.
The company launched an independent review, and the findings identified a number of areas where the group could demonstrate improved levels of corporate governance.
The new supplier list is part of a transparency pledge.
The company also said it intends to sign the International Accord for Health and Safety. The legally binding agreement is a replacement for the Bangladesh Accord which Boohoo said has delivered significant improvements to working conditions for garment workers in the country.
John Lyttle, chief executive of Boohoo, said: "The agenda for change programme was designed to ensure that the changes we made to our business are sustainable and embedded into our culture as we look to the future.”
