I’m getting a “Something’s Not Right” error when I try to place my order. What’s not right?

This means the drive-in either doesn’t have the item you selected in stock or there is a technical issue. Try removing items or customizations from your order to see if it works.

How do I get Order Ahead in my app?

Make sure you are using the latest version of the Sonic app from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. When prompted, allow the Sonic app to access your device location to find Sonic Drive-Ins near you that support Order Ahead.

Why can’t I order Pickle-O’s (or other regional items) in the app? I order them at my drive-in all the time.

The menu in the app is a limited menu containing only items that can be ordered at any SONIC Drive-In location across the country that supports Order Ahead.

Why aren’t there prices on the items in the app? I don’t want to wait until checkout to see how much everything costs.

Prices of menu items vary by drive-in location. We’re presently working on a way to provide pricing before you add an item to your cart.

I have a printed coupon. Can I apply it to an Order Ahead order?

Printed coupons can’t be redeemed in the app. You will need to place your order at the drive-in to use the coupon.

How do I add packets of condiments like ketchup or salt to my order?

You can add sauces to your product when customizing, or add packets of condiments at the bottom of each product page. You can also add condiments separate from a product from your cart. Or press the Red Button when you arrive to pick up your order and a Carhop will bring condiments with your order.

How does Order Ahead work?

Order Ahead is now available at Sonic Drive-Ins around the country! With the Sonic app, you can browse the menu, customize your order, and add items to your bag. You can then pay for your order using a credit card or a Sonic gift card, then select a pick up time. When you arrive at the store to pick up your order, pull into a stall and use the app to check in. Your order will be delivered soon!

I placed an order in the app, but I realized I won’t be able to pick it up. Can I cancel my order?

Yes, you can cancel your order up until 5 minutes before your selected pick up time. In the app, tap on the red button with the bag icon and then tap onView Order. That will open your order details page. Scroll to the bottom and find theCancel Orderbutton.

I’m trying to order an item or a modification that the app doesn’t have.

With 1.3 million drink combinations and many customizable food choices, we may not have the exact item that you’d like to create shown on the app. Some items will need to be ordered at the drive-in without the app until we make that item or option available. We’ve built in some popular ways to customize and will add more options regularly.

How do you order Extra Mustard?

To order Extra Mustard, hold down the Mustard icon. Tapping once will add or remove Mustard, depending on if it’s already on the product you have selected. Holding down the Mustard icon will open up a menu that lets you order Easy Mustard or Extra Mustard. This works the same on many items that allow Easy or Extra modifications. Easy and Extra are not available on all items, but we are working towards adding those in future updates. Selecting Extra may cost more for some items.

I placed an order in the app and set the time to NOW, but I realized I won’t be able to pick it up now. Can I cancel my order?

No. Once we send the order to the kitchen, the food has been made. You can no longer cancel the order or receive a refund.

Why doesn't my local drive-in support Order Ahead?

Order Ahead is now available at almost all Sonic Drive-In locations around the country. If it’s not there yet, it should be at your local drive-in soon!

Do I need to give the app access to my location?

Yes, the app needs access to your location to enable Order Ahead. If you don’t want to provide location access, you can always call a drive-in to place an order without using the app. Drive-in phone numbers can be found in the Find A Location section of the app.

How do you order Easy Ice?

To order Easy Ice, hold down the Ice icon. Tapping once will remove ice. Holding down the Ice icon will open up a menu that lets you order Easy Ice or Extra Ice. This works the same on many items that allow Easy or Extra modifications. Easy and Extra are not available on all items, but we are working towards adding those in future updates.

Can I have someone else pick up my Order Ahead order for me?

Yes. Just tell them to push the red button when they arrive at the specified time and give the Carhop your name. The Carhop will be able to look up your order.

How do I use up the balance on my gift card with Order Ahead?

Now that you can use a credit card to pay for your Order Ahead orders, you may have a small balance left on your gift card. You cannot use multiple payment methods for Order Ahead orders today. But you can use up the remaining balance on your gift card by using Sonic Pay to pay for an order at the store. Place your order at the store the old-fashioned way, and check in using the Pay tab in the app. Once you’re checked in, scroll down toPayment Methodand uncheck the greenReloadcheckbox. This will let you pay the remaining balance of your card toward your order, but not require you to reload your gift card. You can then pay for the rest of your order total at the store by swiping a credit card or using cash.

The app is telling me an item is not available at this drive-in when I check out. Why is it listed as an option if I can't order it?

Anything you can order in the app should be available at every drive-in. However, sometimes drive-ins remove or adjust items. When this error occurs, we will work with the drive-in to resolve it.

Why can’t I get a half-and-half drink? I always order it that way at the store.

We know SONIC guests love to order this type of custom drink combo. We are working on options to allow this type of customization. For now, try using flavor add-ins or fruit add-ins to make your drink your own.

If I order during a promotional time period (Examples: Morning Drink Stop, Happy Hour, Half Price Shakes After 8, Wing Night In America) do I still get the discount in the app?

Yes. Discounts applied during promotional time periods are applied at the time you place and pay for the order, not at your selected pick up time.

Why can’t I order the new item I see on the commercials?

The menu in the app is a limited menu containing only items that can be ordered at any SONIC Drive-In location that supports Order Ahead.

Why can’t I place an order after 11:00pm? I know this drive-in is still open later than that.

Order Ahead is only available from Stall Open to Stall Close time, which is variable by drive-in.

Why can’t I just use a credit card to pay?

You now can! If you already have a credit card on your account from loading your gift card, you can use that card. Or you can add a new credit card to your account. We’re also working on letting you pay with Apple Pay and Google Pay soon!

What if I am not satisfied with my order?

Please push the red button and ask to speak with a manager who can assist with correcting your order.

Can I apply text offers to Order Ahead orders?

No. Text offers are not available in Order Ahead orders.
