Fear the Walking Dead’s seventh season is quickly coming to a close, and instead of locating PADRE or battling for the Tower, everyone leaves in search of someplace new. It has finally been revealed that Madison (Kim Dickens) will return in the season final of season 7, titled “Gone.” Another significant development is that Alicia has gone off on her own, and actress Alycia Debnam-Carey has announced that Alicia is gone for good.
Debnam-Carey shared her goodbyes via Instagram. She reminisced about beginning Alicia’s journey when she was 21, and 7 years and 100 episodes later, she said goodbye to this character. She feels that Alicia’s ending is “beautiful, hopeful, and elusive.” She is ready to tackle new projects like her new series Saint X at Hulu.
Fans will be disappointed as they were looking forward to the reunion between Alicia and her mother and now that will never happen. Oddly, the showrunners have taken the story in this direction, but it does leave the door open for her return.
Throughout her appearance in season 7, Alicia has been fighting a fever and battling her feelings regarding Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). Her final episode found her continuing these battles until she comes face to face with the mysterious little girl who has haunted her for several episodes. This girl ends up being her 8-year-old self via her subconscious, who guides her to decide to find the people who heard her message, leading them to the Tower, which is being destroyed by a fire.
She finally comes to terms with her feelings for Strand, someone who has been with her since the beginning and has endured s much with her. She heads back to the Tower to save him, and before she leaves him with the others to search out someplace new, she tells him that she didn’t save him so he could live and do what she couldn’t but because she loves him too.

Fear the Walking Dead will be a much different series without Alicia Clark. The return of Madison will soothe this loss, but it won’t take the sting away completely.
