ALEXANDER MCQUEEN'S ashes are to be scattered on the Isle of Skye, where his father Ronald was born, it was confirmed today.
The Scottish island, which he regarded as his ancestral home, was of huge significance to the London-born designer. One of his most famous collections, Highland Rape, was inspired by the Highland clearances and when he collected his CBE in 2003 the designer wore full Highland dress. He also wore a kilt - and dressed his date for the evening, Sarah Jessica Parker, in tartan - at the 2006 Costume Institute Gala.
"Alexander was back and forward all over the world," his brother Michael told the Evening Standard, "but he felt at home when he was in Scotland."
His father and five siblings will travel to the island in the next few weeks to fulfil his wishes.
