Is it okay to put overalls in the dryer? ›

If you choose to air dry your overalls, it is best to hang them by the straps or lay them flat on a clean surface. If you tumble dry your overalls, it is recommended to take them out of the dryer right away and hang them.

Do you love your bib overalls but hate the noise of them clanking in the dryer? Here is a way to soften that jarring noise. Place a sock over the two ends, and secure with a rubber band. Wash and dry them like this; they'll clean up fine!

After the cycle is complete, check to see if you got the size you want. Otherwise, you can shrink it further in the tumble dryer on a short cycle and low heat. Remember to stop the machine regularly to prevent the coveralls from shrinking too much.

Damaged belt

If the issue doesn't appear to be with the rollers then there could be a problem with the dryer belt. The drive belt wraps around the dryer drum, a tension pulley and the drive motor. Over time this belt can become worn, frayed or damaged and this will cause the drum to be noisy as it turns.

Unless you have a really, really dirty job, you can wash your work coveralls and overalls every 2 to 3 weeks. If you need to get a little everyday dirt off without a full wash cycle, you can spot clean insulated work overalls and coveralls with a soft, dry brush or a wet cloth.

All you have to do is throw three or four cubes into your dryer, along with the wrinkled garment. Then let it run for about 10 minutes. The cubes will melt, creating moisture and a steam-like effect that will zap creases and leave clothes wrinkle-free.

Pad the Sides

One helpful way to prevent dryer sounds from normal shaking is to place pads on the dryer sides. Acoustic pads are handy, but even just draping a quilt over the top can help to muffle and reduce the audible vibrations, just be mindful of temperature when the dryer is running.

Use dryer balls

Dryer balls can help to separate your laundry and allow air to circulate in the dryer, so could have the added benefit of speeding up the drying time, saving electricity and money. Pop a couple of tumble dryer balls, such as Lakeland's Dryerballs, in the dryer drum with your bedding.
