Heating and Baking Pies (2024)

How do I reheat my pie?

First -- Don't put the metal tin in the microwave! Better yet, try not to microwave your pie or pastry at all -- it just doesn't help the texture of the pastry. Here's the preferred heating method:

Heating Fully Baked Pies:

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Put the pie, turnovers, or pastry on a cookie sheet on foil or parchment, and lightly cover with foil.

For a 9-inch pie, heat for 15-20 minutes. A 5-inch pie will take about 12-15 minutes and turnovers will take about 10-12 minutes. Ovens vary, so use your best judgement. A good way to tell if a pie is hot all the way through is to take it out of the oven, poke a thin knife into the center, hold it there for 15 seconds, then (gently!) hold it to your lip to see if it's hot enough for your taste.

Baking un-baked frozen pies:

Defrost fully in the refrigerator overnight. Pre-heat oven to 350.

For 9-inch pies, bake at 350 approximately 1 hour. For 6-inch pies, bake approximately 30 minutes. The fillings are fully cooked, so you are baking the crust and heating the filling. Pie is done when the crust is browned and filling may bubble slightly.

Freezing

If you're planning on keeping your pie for awhile, most of our pies and pastry freeze very well. Double wrap it in plastic wrap, then put in a freezer bag, then back in the box (That's to protect it a little bit, and so you look at our cool logo every time you go in the freezer). Baked goods generally keep well in the freezer for up to a couple months, as long as they're well wrapped and protected.

Enjoy!
