DON'T wear heels or flip flops to Coachella.

“It's boiling hot in the day and freezing at night and I think people always forget how cold it gets at night,” she says to TZR. “You really have to have a jacket, even if it's really hot during the day. But you always have a bikini in your bag [too], so you have to be prepared for both ends of the spectrum.”

Outdoor Blanket

A foldable, picnic blanket is a festival must-have (especially because Coachella doesn't allow chairs).

DON'T: attempt to wear suede, fur or leather. They will not work well with heat, rain or spilt drinks. A festival is just not the time or place for heavy layers so maybe keep these fabrics for your accessories like bags. DON'T: even try and wear anything with a heel.

Yes, you can wear makeup at outdoor sleepovers—but choose carefully. If you're heading to a music festival, bare faces will be few and far between. Embrace a minimalist look if you want, but cosmetics aren't off-limits just because you're in the middle of nowhere.

Exercise regularly, get enough sleep and load your body with vitamins, fruits, and veggies. Vitamin C, Echinacea, or some other supplement will work as well. Protect your hearing. Buy earplugs, your ears will thank you.

Go for something sturdy

Most festivals are heavy-going on your footwear, even if the weather is kind, so we recommend choosing something sturdy and strong to take the brunt of the wear. Leather is always a good choice as it's strong, comfortable and easy to clean, but plastic and rubber are also good choices.

The items that are not allowed in the event arena: Aerosols – includes deodorant. Air horns. Alcohol.

Toiletries: Starting with the obvious, deodorant is an absolute essential, but make sure you bring roll on as some festivals won't allow aerosols into the premises. If you're planning on using the communal showers, bring miniature shower gel, and shampoo and conditioner if you're planning on washing your hair.
