| Since tulle is a fabric that does not fray, it is not necessary to finish tulle. However, some people may prefer it for decoration purposes. There are several ways to finish tulle. You can finish tulle with ribbon, rattail cord, fishing line, or just put a hem on the tulle. | ||
| Ribbon | ||
| One way to finish tulle is to sew ribbon along the edge of the tulle using a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine. Satin ribbon is a great choice for this since it complements the delicate appearance of tulle. A ribbon-edge on tulle is particularly useful when making bridal veils. | ||

| Rattail Cord | ||
| Take a rattail cord that is the same color as the tulle and line it on the raw edge of the tulle. Then use a rayon machine embroidery thread to stitch the cord to the tulle. | ||

| Fishing Line | ||
| If you prefer a ruffle edge, you can fold the tulle edge over a 50 lb. fishing line and use a narrow zigzag stitch to encase it. Consider using a cording foot since it has grooves on the underside to feed the cord. This will help you guide the line and keep it in the fold. | ||

| Hem | ||
| Some people may prefer to just hem the edge of the tulle. To do this, simply fold the edge of the tulle underneath itself and use the sewing machine to create a narrow stitch. |
