Iowans are freezing their pants — literally.
Who cares if schools across the state were closed due to frigid temperatures or that meteorologists warned about the dangers of being outside for just 10 minutes.
Because we're Iowans andgosh darn it, we're going to go outside and do absolutely ridiculous stuff anyway.
Photos are popping up across social media showing frozen pants just hanging out and having a good time outside.
For Melanie Rasmussen, 25, of Cedar Falls, the minus 33 degree temperature in her hometown created the perfect conditions for some frozen pants.
After soaking a pair of jeans and setting them outside, they turned solid in just 30 minutes.
"I was worried it wouldn't work, but once I stood them up I couldn't help but laugh because it looked so funny," Rasmussen said.
The art of pant sculpting is something anyone can do. Simply soak your pants in water and hang them outside to dry in freezing temperatures.
While it's in the process of freezing, help it out a little bit and create some room inside for that true "worn in" pants effect.
But Minnesota's been heralding the frozen pants trick on social media for a while longer than Iowa. (But we always catch up in about two to three years, right?)
In a Time Magazine article, TomGrotting, a Minneapolis resident known for bringing it to the next level, said prime frozen pants conditionsarearound zerodegrees.
Grotting shows his tips for people below.
