Canon[]
Pre-Main Story[]
After the the Second Honkai Eruption, Otto Apocalypse kidnapped Kiana Kaslana and combined her genes those of the 2nd Herrscher Sirin, eventually creating the clone Subject K-423. Siegfried Kaslana, along with Kiana, attempted to rescue K-423 from Schicksal labs and give her to Anti-Entropy. Kiana was excited when she saw her clone, asking if she could stay with them, and if the clone could be her little sister. As they were all escaping however, their aircraft was hit and Kiana was left behind. Otto retrieved Kiana, healed her with Soulium, and decided to erase her memories. She eventually woke up and chose the name Bianka Ataegina, while K-423 was given the name Kiana Kaslana a few years later.
When Bianka was thirteen years old, Shigure Kira told her about Kiana Kaslana, who Bianka never recalled hearing about before. Shigure Kira explained that Kiana was expected to be a powerful Valkyrie, being the child of two powerful bloodlines, though it turned out that there wasn't anything exceptional about her. After a discussion about choosing fate, Bianka brings up that Kiana's life is a little pitiful, with a dead mother and missing father. However she knows that kids like them, who don't have parents, are able to persevere throughout their lives. Bianka states that she doesn't know what Kiana's dream is, though expects it to be similar to hers in the sense that they seem unachievable, but they'll accomplish it anyway.

Poem of the Wind[]
When Wendy awakens as the Herrscher of the Wind, Himeko informs Kiana that Schicksal HQ has sent their most powerful S-rank Valkyrie, Durandal, to bring her in. Kiana remarks that she always would have loved to spar with Durandal, though now is not the time to meet her because they don't want Durandal to capture Wendy.
Kiana and Theresa have conversation about how Durandal's hard work got to her head. Kiana replied that she was glad that Himeko did not have Durandal's overly serious attitude. In one of the stages, Theresa needed an excuse for why Anti-Entropy knew Durandal's location, as Theresa was the one to leak it to them. She goes with Kiana's idiotic idea of Anti-Entropy coincidentally being on vacation in Durandal's location, which the S-rank Valkyrie believed. After that, Kiana remarked that Durandal is a very reasonable person and that they could be friends one day.
The Prodigal Girl Returns[]
After Kiana saves Arc City from Project Stigma, she is captured by Durandal and taken to Schicksal's North African lab per Otto's orders. Kiana thought about using her Void powers and escaping, though to her surprise, Durandal knew what she was thinking and immediately refuted that Kiana can't escape, and with her unstable powers, she's a ticking time bomb. Durandal takes her outside, where Kiana attempts to form a portal, but is immediately stopped. Durandal states that if Kiana wants to escape, she should earn it honorably and beat her in a fight. During their duel, Durandal tells her that while Kiana is talented, she lacks training. Kiana is surprised that Durandal deflects one of her attacks with Kaslana Gun Kata. Durandal explains that Kiana's fighting style is a mix between different fighting styles, but done without any skillful thought.
Kiana realizes that she can't beat Durandal with brute strength, and uses one of Fu Hua's teachings, the Sword Ki Edge of Taixuan. Durandal is impressed, though makes her fight Quantum Shadows instead for Schicksal's experiment with the 2nd Divine Key. After Kiana breaks the portal and passes out from exhaustion, she wakes up in her cell again with Durandal. Kiana questions why Durandal would work for an organization like Schicksal, who hurt people and performed inhumane experiments. Durandal answers that Schicksal is the only organization that protects people against the Honkai, and that she's dedicated to her mission. The base is then attacked by World Serpent, and Kiana makes her escape.
Thus Spoke Apocalypse[]
Durandal is sent by Otto to help Theresa investigate Kolosten. Later, when Kiana wants to join their expedition, Durandal encourages Theresa to allow her. She says that her defeating the Herrscher of Dominance was impressive, and she wishes to establish a better relationship with Kiana after their last encounter. Kiana remarks that she never thought she and Durandal would fight side-by-side.
Durandal invites Kiana for a spar later. The narration recounts their previous battle, and that during the fight, both opponents realized that who they were fighting was the person most similar to themselves. Durandal comments that Kiana has improved. They recall their conversation in North Africa. Kiana reveals that she didn't know exactly what Durandal meant by her "mission", and asks for an explanation if she's willing. Durandal agrees, if Kiana can beat her in a spar. Both are impressed by each other's improvement. Durandal explains that Otto's plans relate to the Herrscher of the Void and 2nd Divine Key. She speaks about the bubble universe she traversed when she was twelve, and how she wanted to reattach it to the Imaginary Tree, which is what motivated her to work for Otto; While Schicksal was the villain in Kiana's story, they were integral to Durandal's goals. They both hope that though they have separate goals, their future paths won't lead to conflict.
In Chapter 28, Durandal gets thrown into the Imaginary Space, where she eventually enters the Kaslana Stigmata Space. She comes across many Kaslana memories, and eventually encounters a memory of Otto and Ragna talking about what to do with the unconscious Kiana Kaslana. The guide of the stigmata space reveals that this is Durandal's own memory. Durandal wasn't so concerned about this, as she already resolved that her name has nothing to do with who she is. Her mixed feelings came from Siegfried, who believed his biological daughter to be dead, and Kiana, who worked hard to give her name meaning. Durandal decided that revealing her identity to everyone now would do more harm than good.
When Durandal returns to the real world, she and Kiana go to fight Otto. Kiana questions who exactly Durandal will fight this battle as, and Durandal replies that she will fight as a Schicksal Valkyrie; Though Schicksal is flawed, she wants to redefine what a Valkyrie is. Kiana is satisfied with the answer, and asks for a high-five before the battle. Durandal is initially surprised, but they both high-five as a sign of mutual trust. They work together to enter the Imaginary Tree and defeat Otto in his False God form.
The Day of Transcending Finality[]
Since then, Durandal and Kiana have grown closer. The two trained together at Schicksal every day, with Durandal making Kiana do her intense training routine. One morning when the two began training together, Project Stigmata was activated, bringing Durandal to the moon and Kiana to the Sea of Quanta. Kiana uses her Void power to repair a bridge in a bubble universe, allowing the two are able to contact one another and update each other on their situations. Kiana explains that the Dr. MEI in the bubble universe plans to get her and the rest of the gang back to their main universe, while also revitalizing that bubble universe. Durandal points out that this plan is not likely to revitalize the bubble universe and tells Kiana that Dr. MEI may be hiding something. She gives Kiana some advice and they end the communication there.
Kiana, Mei, Bronya, and Senti make it back to the real world. Durandal immediately runs up to Kiana and grabs her hands, expressing relief that Kiana is okay. Kiana greets her back, though is confused by Durandal's enthusiasm. Durandal realizes how odd her behavior must seem, considering she's the only one right now that knows Kiana is her little sister. She unclasps their hands and apologizes, and the group gets back to business.
Later, Kiana, Durandal, and some others go to reclaim St. Freya from Project Stigma. Kiana shows concern over Durandal not sleeping for 2 days, but Durandal insists on helping. There, they find Theresa, who reveals that they have an opportunity to save Siegfried Kaslana from the Kaslana Stigma Space. Durandal says that she could help, as an Awakened of the Kaslana Stigma, which surprises everyone, but Durandal doesn't explain for the sake of time. Durandal guides Kiana to the core of the Stigma Space, where they fight their way through to get to Siegfried. Kiana happily reunites with her father. Siegfried asks Durandal if they've met before, and she hesitates on telling him the truth. Durandal decides to convey what happened in the Stigma Space through a story. Siegfried regains memory fragments of when he encountered Durandal in the Stigma Space, and expresses how proud he is of his daughter. Kiana, tired of their monologues, pushes Durandal and Siegfried to finally hug each other.
After bringing Siegfried back, Kiana and Durandal spend some time alone. Kiana talks the importance of the original Kiana to her, as the first person to treat her kindly and whose name she inherited to carry on her goodwill. She jokes that like the two Seeles, she and Durandal can go under the same name. Durandal replies that the name "Bianka" is much more important to her, the same way the name Kiana's name has been important to her. Kiana agrees. Kiana reflects on when the original Kiana showed her kindness and considered K-423 her younger sister, saying that she's willing always to be her family. There, Kiana and Durandal officially declared each other as sisters, and Kiana since then has always referred to Durandal as "big sister."

Fanon[]
Though Durandal and Kiana wasn't a popular dynamic before Chapter 28, their connection was talked about due to the fan theory of Durandal being the real Kiana. People saw this before the plot point was revealed in Chapter 28, as the timeline for Durandal's earliest memories matched with when the original Kiana went missing. Fans also noticed how both characters had thematic ties to the moon, Durandal's resemblance to Cecilia, her name "Bianka" being an anagram of "Kiana B", and many other connections. However, this theory was considered unlikely. While there were many connections, the theory wasn't definitive enough to be widely accepted. Many also believed that revealing Durandal as the original Kiana would cheapen her character arc.
Before Chapter 28, the sisterhood between the original Kiana and K-423 was also explored without the assumption of Durandal being the original Kiana, with alternate scenarios where Siegfried managed to save and adopt both Kianas. Once Durandal's origins were revealed on Chinese servers, the family ship between Kiana and Durandal widely grew in popularity, especially in terms of fan art. Fanworks were made about their sisterly bond, with Durandal being the older sister.
