Kim Kardashian says she didn't profit from TV wedding (2024)

Kim Kardashian has dismissed reports that she profited from her televised wedding to Kris Humphries the day after filing for divorce.

The reality TV star has separated from her basketball player husband after 72 days of marriage.

"There are reports that I made millions of dollars off the wedding.

"These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this," she said in a message on her personal website.

"I'm so grateful to everyone who took the time to come to my wedding, and I'll be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation."

Kardashian, currently on a promotional visit to Australia, also told a radio show it was "ridiculous" that she had to defend herself against claims her marriage was a publicity stunt.

"I don't think I'm really ready to go into the details of what went on in my marriage," she told the Kyle and Jackie O Show.

"But I do want to make clear that I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that."

The 31-year-old star of Keeping Up With The Kardashians filed for divorce from Humphries, 26, on Monday.

Their wedding in August was reported to have cost $10 million (£6.2m) and was shown in October on the E! network in a special programme called Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event.

Kardashian also explained in her web statement that her desire to settle down, along with the pressures of having a reality TV show, may have stopped her saying no to Kris Humphries' marriage proposal.

She didn't mention her 26-year-old husband by name in the 370-word message.

"I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that, when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn't know how to and didn't want to disappoint a lot of people," she said.

This is Kim Kardashian's second divorce.

She was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas for four years. They separated in 2004.

Kim Kardashian is one of the highest-paid reality stars on US television.

In 2010 she earned an estimated $6 million (£3.7m) from her TV show, clothing line, perfume, jewellery and tanning cream plus other product endorsem*nts and appearances.
