...2004, The Gucci Group announced the three designers to lead the creative team for Gucci after Tom Ford's departure. Alessandra Facchinetti, design director for four years, took full responsibility of Gucci's womenswear division, John Ray took over menswear and Frida Giannini became creative director of accessories. "Alessandra, John and Frida are incredibly talented and each one has made significant contributions to Gucci's current success," Giacomo Santucci, Gucci's then-president and ceo said. Stefano Pilati took over YSL Rive Gauche. Ford left after he and Domenico de Sole failed to agree with PPR bosses over creative control of the Group.
...2005, Kate Moss was spotted with a diamond ring on her wedding finger. Moss kept everyone guessing as to whether the ring was from on/off boyfriend at-the-time Pete Doherty, Rhys Ifans (whom she was spotted drinking with), or Bobby Gillespie (with whom she was spotted leaving a Japanese restaurant). Kate Moss is now engaged to guitarist Jamie Hince - the pair met in 2007.
...2005, Central Saint Martins student designer Sophia Amanzi-George was threatened with legal action from Chanel after featuring their famous double-C logo on her designs for her MA collection during London Fashion Week. The student said, however, that she had no intention of ripping Chanel off: "I bought the prints at Brixton Market, so I luckily can't get into trouble for actually creating it myself," she said. "I wanted to approach African culture in a different way - rather than the traditional leather fringe-and-tribal prints look, I wanted a more modern interpretation. The C logo was an attempt to be humorous about the use of fake labels in the 'bling' culture."
