Since getting engaged to Prince Harry in November, Meghan Markle has worn hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of designer clothing. But, according to a new report from People, Markle and Harry pay for all of their clothes themselves, as royals can't accept clothes for free.
After the couple gets married in May, Markle's wardrobe for officialoutings will be included in the royal budget, as administered by Prince Charles. Last year, Prince Charlesreportedly budgeted $4.8 millionfor Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton's personal expenses, including clothing. The money comes from his annual $28 million earnings from the Duchy of Cornwall, according to People.
But, until then,Markle and Harry will continue to pay for the clothing themselves. This will most likely also include Markle's wedding dress, as Middleton also reportedly paid for her wedding dress out of pocket.
