The women look completely different from when it started its such a shame Claire is looking more like Joan Rivers why do they do it?

I said exactly this to my husband. It's a shame she feels she has to I guess.

CaptainHammer · 08/10/2017 13:31

I said the same re the actress playing Claire!

Sarah Hyland that plays Hayley has been unwell so that’s why she looks different.

NapQueen · 08/10/2017 13:35

Actress playing Claire has definetly had too much work done on her face. Haley actress has health probs so I think that effects her physically.

Sofia Vergara still looks her usual amazing self.

Anyone else think episode one of this season was too farcical?

cushioncovers · 09/10/2017 14:44

Gloria looks fab with a fringe. Cam and Mitch made me laugh. Claire and Alex I rarely find funny. I agree Claire’s had way too much surgery.

We all LOVE MF, seriously love. We actually watched season 1-8 while waiting for 9 to start. Ok ok I need to get a life!

But yes, I felt quite sad that she had obviously had something done. One of the things I've always liked is that they are not (or don't appear to) be celeb hungry fame grabbers.

I usually like Cam but think he was a bit too much on the boat episode. Love Phil, he is my favourite.

AllThewhor*sOfMalta · 09/10/2017 15:18

First episode was very silly but I did laugh at Cam in his Kaftan (and then losing his Kaftan!)

Yes, really sad, Claire looks awful with all that work and it's so sad that she feels she has to do it. She's a beautiful woman, she would look much better if she had just been allowed to age naturally.

ShiftyMcGifty · 09/10/2017 16:07

I was watching The Good Place on Netflix recently and I loved Kristen Bell (voice of Anna's frozen) because her forehead MOVED. And gasp, she even had wrinkles!

I was so jarring and so refreshing to see an actress that could actually move her forehead naturally. Made me realise that these days, most actresses over 40 rely on their eyes to deliver any sort of worried/sad expression. Big little lies was the worst - so much emotion in the voices and then you look up and see a beautiful woman who can't even frown, let alone convey distress in her face.

Floralnomad · 10/10/2017 13:39

We didn't find the last series funny and thought we would give it one last chance and we also failed to find it remotely funny . It's such a shame because it was so funny when it first started . The actress who plays Clare looks like she's had a shed load of work done on her face . I have said it before on previous threads that I think the issue is that the children have been written so poorly as they've got older , they are all basically a bunch of sex pests . The boy / man who plays Manny really needs to do something about his weight .

Claire has def overdone the fillers, shame because she was beautiful. Sophia vegara is stunning! Amazing figure.
(Must stop eating wotsits and find my waist again)

I ♥ Phil. I only discovered MF on maternity leave this year.

EachandEveryone · 14/10/2017 22:15

May i suggest you all watch Life in Pieces on Amazon Prime? So much better.

I just dont get why Claire felt the need to ruin her face. It just doesnt go with the show.

foodiefil · 14/10/2017 22:22

Claire! Absolutely in the latest series. What has she had done?!

Dingdongdigeridoo · 15/10/2017 13:25

It’s those horrible cheek implant things. They look bloody awful. I feel terrible for actors who feel they have to do this to themselves.

Just watched episode 3 and it was much funnier than the first two. Cam in particular was marvellous.

EachandEveryone · 15/10/2017 14:20

She plays a mother in a long running tv show as an actor why would this make her feel the need to have a facelift? I cant get my head around it.

I haven't had time to watch the second episode but when I watched the first, my first thought was what has Julie done to her face!
I have Modbro and have Modern Family on every morning, only streams the earlier stuff. Julie Bowen and Sophia have changed so much.
Sophia looks absolutely amazing!
But the actress that plays Claire really does look very different.

FranKubelik · 15/10/2017 14:34

Haven't seen the latest series yet but I was always perplexed about how different Claire looked in the pilot until I read that she was pregnant. When I rewatch now I've no idea how I missed it.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 15/10/2017 14:39

She is very very slim

And that can sometimes take a toll on your face as you get older

Im desperately clinging on to that as an excuse to stay a lardy fat knacker

Sofia Vergara was sporting a very immovable forehead for the last few seasons but the fringe covers it up. She's gorgeous though, I'd kill for her figure but no amount of diet or exercise will give it to me!

Sarah Hyland has had a kidney transplant, which is why she looks different.

As an aside, has anyone seen Ariel Winter's Instagram? She could not be more different from Alex!

justdontevenf*ckingstart · 15/10/2017 14:55

Yeah I think Sarah was on quite a lot of drugs last season which caused the swelling in her face. I have a bit of a Jay crush, but he also changes season to season. As we all do I expect.

EachandEveryone · 15/10/2017 18:31

He’s lost a lot of weight. Looks like my father funnily.

His wife in rl looks like Sofia in twenty years time.

I know this is an old thread but you are all so right about Julie Bowen - is had a break from MF and recently caught up on the last couple of series. I adore the show, really love it but her face! It's just depressing. Why couldn't she just age naturally? Would it really be so horrific for us to see a woman in her 40s looking like a woman in her 40s?

And yes, she is supremely thin, has a very sinewy yoga body and I think keeping a very low weight into your 40s does make the face age a bit faster.
