Before Flight 828[]

Olive is the daughter of Ben and Grace Stone and the twin sister of Cal Stone. She and Cal are inseparable and best friends during this time. After Cal is diagnosed with Leukemia, the entire Stone Family, including their grandparents Karen and Steve and aunt Michaela go to Jamaica for a vacation. Cal volunteers to go with Michaela and Ben on Flight 828 instead of Flight 537. ("Pilot")

During Flight 828[]

Minutes before 828 leaves, Olive decides she wants to go with her brother. As she reaches the counter area, T.J Morrison is already there and boards the plane instead of Olive. She remembers T.J when the plane lands.

Olive meets a kindred spirit in Grace's new boyfriend Danny, and she eventually warms to him despite being initially wary. Her relationship with Danny grows strong along the years, as she told Grace that while Ben is her father, she considers Danny to be a father figure as well. Prior to that, she helps her mother during a rough patch, prompting Grace to step up and be the parent she needs to be.

Olive mentions many times throughout the first season that she just ‘knew’ that Cal was still alive, stating it was a ‘twin thing.’ She explains how she felt crazy when she would tell others but she always had hope that Cal was still alive.

After Flight 828[]

Olive, like Grace and Steve, is shocked when Flight 828 returns, and she is even more shocked when Cal has not aged a day. Cal does not immediately recognize her, but he soon adjusts to her being older than he last saw her before the plane.

At some point after the flight went missing, Olive began dating Cal's friend, Kevin. Not much is known about their relationship, although Grace tells Ben when they return that Kevin had been really good for Olive. They seem to be happy together until Kevin's last appearance in Point of No Return. At some point they break up, as Olive begins dating TJ Morrison, but no reason is ever given as to why or when exactly the relationship ended.

Throughout the seasons, Olive proved herself to be extremely helpful in terms of helping Ben and Michaela with the Callings.

She proves to be a valuable ally in discovering The Death Date (2nd June 2024). She is initially fine with helping out, but becomes angry when Grace has a calling. She then visits the Church of the Returned, and realizes that having two 828ers in her house is a blessing. She heavily involves her with the Church and is seen doing duties and setting up the halls.

In Emergency Exit, she visits a club, with T.J. Turns out, the whole thing was a trap by Isaiah, a member of the Church, who invites several 828 members and plans to set the club on fire. She is saved by her father, but unfortunately, she has to leave T.J behind so he can fight Isaiah. Minutes after she escapes outside, the entire club erupts in fire, killing T.J.

He was later found by Ben and Olive through a calling Ben had that led him to T.J. He had escaped seconds before to safety before the club erupted, but was squashed under a lot of wreckage. If Ben and Olive had not arrived when they did, it would be very unlikely that T.J would live.

A New Timeline[]

When flight 828 survives the Death Date, they are transported back to when the 828 was supposed to arrive on April 7, 2013, which creates a new timeline where the passengers get a second chance. Having no memories from the time 828 disappeared to 2024 of the original timeline, a de aged Olive meets TJ for the first time when he gives her a book, having a small crush on him for remembering her name. Showing that Olive would have fallen for him if they were the same age; not just their connection via 828 in the original timeline.

Trivia[]

  • Olive's casting call describes her as "Cal’s twin sister who never really got over the devastating loss of her father and brother on that mysterious flight. Now that they’re back, the bond between siblings is still as close as ever — even though they’re now years apart in age."[1]
  • Before the start of Season 4 during the 2 year time skip, Olive and Cal’s relationship had become severely strained as Olive had figured out and confirmed that Cal was responsible for allowing Angelina to get into their house and kill their mother. As a result Olive held Cal responsible and blamed him for a long time, before they finally reconciled which was shown at the start of season 4.
