Scratch Cat is the main character and titular protagonist of Scratch: Story Mode and its remake. He is an orange anthropomorphic cat who resides in the Scratch city, and lives with his best friends Giga and Gobo, with the latter being his pet.
In the original, he was voiced by the former Scratcher @ScrathKat, while in the remake, was voiced by @-CoffeeMug- in Episodes 1 and 2, and was voiced by @-Prime- in Episodes 3 and 4, respectively. And since @-CoffeeMug- deleted his account, and @-Prime- no longer posting, they most likely have retired from Scratch as well.

Personality[]
Depending on what the player chooses for him to say, Scratch Cat is shown to have a good amount of care for his friends and family, as for example, he saves Giga from nearly getting killed by the Virus in Episode 2 of the original series, and as well as trying to catch her before she falls off a cliff in Episode 3 of the series.
In Episode 1, he also comforts Gobo after the latter gets scared of a brief earthquake, telling him that nothing will hurt him.
Scratch Cat's personality has not changed much in the remake, however, (depending on what the player chooses) he can be rude at times, such as when he tells Gobo to "stop being a wimp" after he frowns once they start to cross a bridge, or yelling at him to get out of a bush due to him being scared by the Virus.
Biography[]
Scratch Cat appears as the main protagonist of both the original and the remake, and is also the only playable character.
Original[]
Episode 1: The Virus[]
Scratch Cat is first seen in his house on his computer, looking at his Scratch profile, while Giga asks him what project are they going to make for the Remix-a-Thon contest. Depending on what the player chooses, Scratch will either say that it should have flames or that it should be simple. Suddenly, a brief earthquake happens, causing Gobo to run to the corner of the room, terrified. If the player chooses to comfort the latter, Scratch will say that "nothing will hurt him", which ironically foreshadows later events in the game. He then vows to check outside in order to see what it was. He then (optionally) looks at a flower, which foreshadows future events of the game. Later, they arrive at the town center, (which is where the contest is being held) where they meet Pico, in which the former asks Pico if he saw a giant crack. The latter then says yes and says that they should go to it to "see if it has grown". Scratch then says he isn't sure due to him and his friends having to come a long way in order to get to the Remix-a-Thon. Due to this, Pico decides that he'll just go there himself. Giga then asks Scratch if he wants to submit their project, but the latter says he left it at home. The former then decides that they should just go with Pico in order to go back home to get it. When Scratch and his friends arrive at the crack, they notice Pico, who has been possessed by the Virus, and Scratch either calls out his name or asks what is he doing. The latter then shouts "The power...of all imagination is mine now!", causing the ground to rise. The former then tells Gobo to jump onto his hand, while Pico shouts "ALL POWER IS MINE NOW!", causing the Virus to be unleashed.
Episode 2: Old Friends[]
In the opening, Scratch (along with the rest of the citizens) is first seen running away from the Virus. However, one of the Virus's branches nearly grabs Giga, and the player can either choose to make Scratch Cat save her or not. The gang then run back to their house, with Tera following behind. Inside, Scratch says that he is glad that they're safe, and Tera asks the gang if they have seen her friend. Depending on what the player chooses, Scratch Cat says that there was a poster at the convention or that he hasn't seen him. Tera then tells the gang that Nano is quite adventurous, but also tells them that he wants to take down a certain place, and Scratch asks him what place is it, in which Tera responds is Creativity City. Giga then asks Tera why would he be against creativity, in which Tera says is because he thinks it creates chaos.
Episode 3: Broken[]
Scratch and the rest of the gang are watching the Virus destroy Creativity City, and Tera thinks that Nano is also there, but Scratch asks her how is she so sure. When Tera goes to take a look herself, Scratch makes a confused look. He and his friends then follow Tera to the cliff, and depending on what the player chooses, Scratch Cat jumps down with her. However, another brief earthquake happens, and when Giga is about to fall, Scratch catches her, reminding the latter of the time when the former saved her from nearly getting killed by the Virus. However, a second brief earthquake happens, and Giga falls down, causing her to become unconscious. Scratch then tells Gobo to take her back to the lodge. He then notices Nano hiding behind a tree, and regardless if he calls out his name or not, Nano will walk away. When Scratch Cat gets back to his house, he notices Nano again, this time, holding a remote that controls the Virus. He then notices Giga and Gobo are in danger, as they are being chased by the Virus. One of the Virus's branches reaches them, causing Giga to become unconscious again, and as well as Gobo. Scratch then tells Tera that they need to stop the Virus, and once Nano shows up,(as a silhouette) the episode ends, ending the series on a cliffhanger.
Remake[]
Scratch Cat's role and what he does in the remake is still the same as his original incarnation, with some slight changes.
In Episode 3, Scratch Cat and the gang find out that Pico is inside of the Virus, and depending on what the player chooses, Scratch Cat will either defeat the Virus on the outside or inside in order to get Pico out.
In Episode 4, he and Gobo get sucked in, which wasn't a part of their plan, and once they wake up, they themselves to be inside of the Virus, where they find Pico, who is being used as a source for the Virus, along with the Scratch Chip. Scratch then asks Pico how can they help him, but due to the Virus controlling his thoughts, he can't really talk. Scratch then tells Gobo to find a way to get the latter out, however, once Scratch starts to climb one of the Virus's cords, one of the branches reach Gobo, and the former removes the chip from the Virus's core. Once Scratch wakes up, he finds Gobo to be dead, making him cry, telling him that he was either a hero or a great friend, causing the rest of the gang to feel very sorry, while Nano feels guilty. Tera then tells the latter that he isn't his friend anymore, and that he needs to go talk to Scratch. When Nano asks if he can come with Scratch and the rest of the gang in order to repair the city, Scratch says "sure", and calls him a friend.
Trivia[]
- All of the voice actors for Scratch Cat in both the original and the remake (@ScrathKat, @-CoffeeMug-, and @-Prime-) have all retired from Scratch
- For some reason, in the remake, Scratch has a different voice actor starting in Episode 3, as he was voiced by @-Prime- instead of @-CoffeeMug-, probably due to the latter deleting his account.
