At KCL, we aren’t done shopping after Target Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales end. Nope. Not when the Target Gift Card Sale hits the first weekend in December.
Every year during the first weekend of December, they drop a two-day-only sale on Target gift cards for Target Circle members. If you buy a Target gift card during the sale, you’ll score an extra 10% off the face value. And they’ll let you save up to $50 (on a Target gift card).
The sale most recently happened Nov. 2 – 3, 2023. And we expect the next gift card sale to happen Dec. 7 – 8, 2024 (that’s a Saturday and Sunday). You’ll need to add the Circle Offer to your account to save 10% on Target gift cards before you buy them, but it’s good to redeem in stores, online, or in the Target app.
Whether or not you still need holiday gifts, discounted Target gift cards are certainly worth grabbing. You can buy them to spend on stocking stuffers (which Target has for as low as $1) or wait to use them during the Target Christmas Clearance sale after Dec. 25.
In the meantime, download The Krazy Coupon Lady app to stay on top of all the best Target deals.
Here’s what to know about the Target Gift Card Sale coming the first weekend of December, and how to make the most of your savings:
1. Target gift cards are 10% off during the Gift Card Sale (predicted for Dec. 7 – 8, 2024).
The Target Gift Card Sale always happens the first weekend of December, and we expect the same pattern for 2024. We most recently shopped the Target Gift Card Sale from Dec. 2 – 3, 2023. And the next Target Gift Card Sale will likely run from Saturday, Dec. 7, through Sunday, Dec. 8.
During this two-day sale, shoppers can buy Target gift cards for 10% off the face value, and save up to $50.
Even if you don’t plan on giving out Target gift cards as gifts this Christmas, it’s pretty much the easiest way to save a quick 10% at Target. You can also load gift cards into your Target app so they automatically apply to your next purchase.
NOTE: During the Gift Card Sale, only Target gift cards are eligible for 10% off, not prepaid cards or gift cards to other retailers.
2. Add the 10% off Circle Offer to your account before you shop online or in stores.
The 10% discount on gift cards is a Target Circle Offer, so you’ll need to have a free Target Circle account to shop the Gift Card Sale.
Starting Dec. 7, 2024, look for the 10% off gift card deal under “Circle Offers” online or in the Target app. Save the offer to your account, then shop for Target gift cards online or in stores. Just remember — there’s a limit of one offer per guest.
How to Apply Your 10% Discount:
First, save the Circle Offer for 10% off gift cards to your Target Circle account. Once it’s saved, you’re ready to shop.
If you’re shopping online through your Target Circle account, the 10% discount applies to your purchase automatically. If you’re shopping in-store, open your Target app and scan your Circle barcode at checkout to apply the 10% discount.
3. Save up to $50 on Target gift cards during the two-day sale.
During the Gift Card Sale, you can buy Target gift cards valued anywhere between $10 and $500. And since you get 10% off, the maximum amount you can save is $50 on a $500 gift card.
So, you’ll save $1 on $10 Target gift cards, $2 on $20, and so on and so forth:
- $10 gift card — Save $1
- $20 gift card — Save $2
- $50 gift card — Save $5
- $100 gift card — Save $10
- $200 gift card — Save $20
- $300 gift card — Save $30
- $400 gift card — Save $40
- $500 gift card — Save $50
4. Both physical gift cards and e-gift cards are 10% off during the sale.
If you’re shopping online, you have three options for sending and receiving your Target gift cards: email, mail, or text. You can either order a physical gift card for shipping or have an e-gift card delivered by email or text.
Before you add a Target gift card to your cart, select the gift card value and delivery method — email, mail, or text. At checkout, you’ll enter the shipping address, email address, or phone number for where you’d like the gift card sent. As long as you have the Circle Offer saved to your account first, you’ll get the 10% discount.
5. Buy Target e-gift cards for yourself or send them to a gift recipient.
There are tons of reasons to stock up on Target gift cards for yourself and save an easy 10%. But the Gift Card Sale is also a great way to save on gift cards for family, friends, teachers, and others this holiday season.
When you checkout online, Target gives you the option to send your e-gift card to another recipient under the “Digital Delivery” section. Here, you’ll enter the person’s name and email address/phone number, plus a short gift message to go along with it.
Buying an e-gift card for yourself? Use the “Send to myself” option at checkout, instead.
TIP: If you don’t want your Target e-gift card sent right after you buy it, you can schedule a future delivery date up to three months out!
6. Use your discounted Target gift cards on last-minute holiday shopping, or save them for the Christmas Clearance.
If you don’t plan to dish out Target gift cards as gifts this Christmas, stock up on a few for yourself and use them to save more on last-minute holiday shopping. Target Black Friday isn’t the last stop for holiday deals. You’ll even find deals long after Target Cyber Monday and basically all the way up through Christmas.
But some of Target’s best deals on holiday decor drop in the weeks after Christmas, starting on Dec. 26. This is what we call the Target Christmas Clearance, and it’s a surefire way to save 70% – 90% on mini trees, lights, gift wrap, and decor for next year.
So, you can load up on Target gift cards for 10% off during the Gift Card Sale, then use them to pay for your clearance finds after Christmas. You’ll save even more on top of already deep discounts, and be all set for holiday decorations in the next year.

7. Unfortunately, you can’t stack your 5% RedCard discount with 10% off Target gift cards.
When you pay with your RedCard at Target, you get 5% off your purchases. Most things at Target are eligible for the 5% discount. However, Target gift cards are not one of them.
You’ll save 5% when you use your RedCard to buy other retailer gift cards, but not Target gift cards. They are one of the few exclusions to your typical RedCard discount.
