I. Natural Appearance

II. The Colour Palette

Bright Spring's primary colour aspect is bright, and its secondary aspect is warm.

Hue

Because of Bright Spring's secondary aspect, the colours lean towards the warm end of the scale but are not extremely warm. That means they contain more yellow than blue undertones. So even if you choose blue (the coolest colour), you will find only warmer shades with a tint of yellow. Some of these are the turquoises and the pastel colours.

Value

The colour palette ranges from light to dark, but it does not include very light or dark colours. Although you may find darker shades of blue, green and purple, these are only supporting colours. Most colours cluster around the middle of the value scale, leaning slightly towards the lighter end because of the greater concentration of yellow undertones.

Chroma

In line with this colour season’s primary aspect, the colours are very high in chroma; meaning they are intensely bright and vibrant. Only the sister palette Bright Winter can rival this intensity.

III. Make-up Colours

Bright Spring make-up colours are taken from the same colour palette that is used for clothing.

Complexion Make-up

Complexion make-up includes foundation, concealers, and bronzers. These would typically be taken from the neutrals palette.

Foundation & Concealer

Bright Spring skin is neutral-warm and ranges from fair to tan. However, it's not possible to give recommendations on complexion make-up, such as foundation and concealer. These are best colour-matched to your individual skin.

Generally, though, foundations and concealers are best when they are natural, dewy and peach-based but not too yellow.

Avoid blue-based foundations which have cool undertones and will clash with your naturally warmer complexion. Matte finishes are also not the best choice, as they dull your bright skin.

Bronzer & Highlighter

Bronzers are not a typical Spring make-up product, but they can work on Bright Springs. Just make sure the bronzer you are using is neither muddy nor grey. Look for peachy, yellower bronzing shades.

Instead of bronzer, you can also use highlighters to add accents to your face. These should be not too golden and yellow, though, as Bright Spring has cool Winter influences.

Eye Make-up

Eye make-up colours come from both the neutrals portion and the complementary & accent colours on the Bright Spring palette.

Eyeshadow

Neutral eyeshadow colours are the creams, champagnes, greys and taupes on the palette. Since Bright Spring colours are the darkest and brightest of all Spring palettes, you can easily wear dark eyeshadow.

For highlight and accent eyeshadow colours, opt for the brighter and more colourful colours on your palette. Darker pinks, purples, blues and greens look particularly nice.

Avoid muddy colours that take away from the brightness of your complexion. Similarly, avoid going too dark, as you are not a dark but a bright season.

Make sure to avoid eyeshadows with very matte finishes, as those might dull your appearance.

Mascara

Your best mascara colours are very dark greys.

But since Bright Spring is influenced by Winter, true black is also an option. However, it's darker and colder than your ideal colours. If you do use it, make sure to add a warmer, lighter eyeshadow to balance out the coolness.

Eyeliner

You can use your mascara colours as eyeliners, but anything darker than chimera might look too heavy on you. Instead, opt for brighter colours - the greens, blues and purples on your palette. Though it might seem bold at first glance, these colours will bring out your sparkling eyes.

Lip & Cheek Make-up

Blush and lip colours come from the pink, peach, coral and orange area of the Bright Spring colour palette.

Blusher

The perfect blush colour will depend on your individual skin tone. Some trial and error may therefore be required. If you lean more towards True Spring, try the peach and coral colours. If you lean more towards Bright Winter, opt for the more pinkish colours.

Avoid blue-based colours that are too cool for your complexion. And steer clear of dark and dusty colours, which may dull your bright appearance.

Lipstick

The best lipstick colours for Bright Spring are intense. These are all types of peach, coral and pinks. These are not shy colours!

But even though these colours may at first glance seem bold, don't be afraid. They will look very natural on you and not at all attention-grabbing because they mimic the natural intensity of your appearance.

Avoid dark, cool colours - such as burgundy and plum. These would clash too much with your warmer complexion. Also, try to stay away from finishes that are too matte and dry-looking. Your appearance needs vibrance.

IV. Make-up Looks

Natural Looks

Bright Spring make-up is at its best when it's contrasted, bright and colourful.

As mentioned before, when we think of a natural make-up look, we often think of nude or bare lips and very little eye make-up in neutral colours - such as brown and taupe. However, this type of "natural" look does not work on Bright Springs. And it's a wrong idea that we need to get out of our heads.

A natural look is one that will mimic the characteristics of your natural appearance. For a Bright Spring, this means brightness and glow. A matte, nude lip on a Bright Spring will make them look washed out and off. What is required here is a bold lip paired with defined eye make-up.

Even though this might seem unintuitive at first, this is what will actually look natural on a Bright Spring. You can see in the image below how the bright coral lip doesn't look bold at all on Rachel Weisz. It neither stands out, nor does it take attention away from her. It just looks so right on her. A mute colour would dull her appearance and a dark colour would be too dark for her.

If this is still too much for you, opt for one of the sheerer lip colours, apply it lightly, and add some mascara to your lashes.

And how deep you can go with your lipstick will depend on how high your natural level of contrast is. If you are on the lower side, choose the lighter lip shades. If you have a very high level of contrast, try the deeper shades.

Even when you are creating a natural make-up look, it's important to use at least one bright colour in your look. This is what will bring out your natural level of contrast. The best way to achieve this is through lipstick.

Dramatic Looks

You have several options here. You could simply intensify your lips with an even brighter lip colour.

Or you can go for a smoky eye. But don't make it too dark, as this would overwhelm you.
