1.VitruvianManbyLeonardodaVinci.Thisextremelyfamoussketchisarenderingoftheproportionsofthemalehumanbody.ItisanexampleoftheRenaissanceobsessionwiththeartisticrepresentationofmathematics.DaVincihimselfiswhatiscalleda“polymath,”whichissomeoneinterestedindrawingfromdiversefieldstosolveproblems.
2.DrippaintingmethodbyJacksonPollock.ThecontemporarypainterJacksonPollockisknownforhischaoticcanvasesthathavesplattersanddripsofdifferentcolouredpaint.Arthistorianshavepointedout,andmathematicianshaveechoed,thewaythathisworksareformsoffractalgeometry,seeminglyrandombuthavingunderlyingsymmetries.However,thereisalsoadisputeamongmathematiciansaboutwhetherPollock'sworksaretrueexpressionsoffractals.
