Virgos and Scorpios compatibility: Are these two signs a match made in heaven or a romance destined to flop? Though there’s so much more to astrological compatibility than a sun sign alone, that doesn’t mean there isn’t much that can be revealed just by someone’s birthday alone. Virgo is an earth sign while Scorpio is a water sign, and though they’re not of the same element, water and earth signs usually get along harmoniously. Virgo and Scorpio are in a sextile aspect—or 60º apart in the zodiac wheel—which gives them an affinity for one another. They get each other but do they get along? Let’s find out.
Virgo in Relationships
Virgos are known for being extremely particular. Detail-oriented to an extreme. To be loved by a Virgo is to be loved by someone who will move a mountain to get to you and then insist that you solve everything their way. When it comes to romantic relationships, Virgos are much more relaxed and open to exploring possibilities than they are in other parts of their life. Though Virgos are extremely caring and attentive partners who shower their lovers with undivided attention and exceptionally well-curated gifts, they also don’t want to lose their independence. Like the dreamers of the zodiac, Pisces and Sagittarius, Virgos are a mutable sign. Change is a constant! Virgos get swept up in their relationships so committing to one is accepting that life should be an adventure.
Scorpio in Relationships
Fixed water sign Scorpio too often gets a bad reputation (not surprisingly Taylor Swift’s chart includes Mars in this Scorpio!) for being both secretive yet confrontational and aloof yet vindictive. But Scorpios aren’t vengeful by default. In fact, they’re passionate and extremely loyal to everyone they allow into their inner circle. That’s why it shouldn’t be a surprise that relationships are Scorpio’s comfort zone. There’s nothing sweeter to them than being with someone who allows them to be their whole self—flannel Snuggie and all. In fact, once Scorpios are in a relationship, it’s almost impossible for them to get out of it. They’re extremely forgiving with their partners (often to their detriment!) mostly because they hate change. So, once a Scorpio is in, they’re in it for life.

Communication flows easily between Virgos and Scorpios. Virgos are ruled by the Mercury—the literal communication planet—and though they sometimes like to keep what they say under wraps until it’s perfect, they’re typically extremely clear and articulate. Mars-ruled Scorpios similarly do not mince their words and try to communicate directly. In the early stages of dating, if Virgos are a bit shy about sharing their feelings, Scorpios know exactly how to get them to admit to a crush. Both of these signs have absolutely no patience for mind games and can tell when they’re being played. Conversations are sure to get deep in this relationship and the truth always comes out.

Virgos and Scorpios are both undeniable freaks in the bedroom, so the sex in this relationship is definitely next-level. But though they’re both passionate, Virgos are kinky and tend to enjoy power play while Scorpios are more sensual. Trouble may arise when Virgos are tired of the constant cuddling and aren’t getting enough variety from their Scorpio partner. Luckily Scorpios are up for a challenge and can seduce their way out of any dry spell.

Scorpios have their Midheaven—the part of the chart that describes one’s public image—in the sign of Leo. So to them, career is everything and status is everything. Scorpios want to be stars and can sometimes be divas. As far as work ethic, they need to do things their own way and can stay very fixated on one project until they reach burnout. Virgos, on the other hand, are much more chill about their goals and how they’re being perceived. Virgos are ambitious, but with their Midheaven in Gemini, they’re much more focused on solving problems and having their hands in everything. Virgos sometimes pursue multiple paths at the same time.
These two signs can clash when it comes to career because Virgo doesn’t have the time or energy to give Scorpio all the praise they need. Simultaneously, Scorpio may overlook some of Virgo’s achievements or criticize them for prioritizing making friends before getting ahead at work. If working together, these two could be an unstoppable team as long as they stay in their own lane and play to their strengths.

Virgos and Scorpios both tend to want independence and lots of space from their families. While Cancers and Tauruses make everything about their loved ones, these signs like to keep their distance. Virgos like to connect with their families through travel and recreational activities while Aquarius bonds through telling stories and doing nerdy deep dives into their family history. Both signs like to keep visits quick and to the point so in this relationship, no one has to worry about their next Christmas vacation turning into The Family Stone.
When it comes to living together, Virgos make bold choices as far as location and even decoration for the home while Scorpios like to stick to what’s classic. These two are both rather averse to nesting (they’d rather be on the go) so are sure to agree on keeping things light, affordable and easy to move.

Money is where these two signs don’t quite see eye to eye. Known for being practical—and TBH, cheap—Virgos like to save most of their income and are masters of budgeting. Though they might take a few more risks when it comes to a loan or business investment, they’re generally rather safe than sorry. Scorpios, conversely, can be quite extra with their spending and don’t like to skimp on anything. Scorpios are also even more flippant when it comes to shared income. If these two were to buy something major together like a car or a house, there would have to be compromise, though Scorpio ultimately defers to Virgo’s strong opinion.

Overall Scorpio and Virgo are an excellent match. Though they run into problems when it comes to money and career, both the sex and the communication is too great to pass up. These two understand each other on a deep level and, as long as things don’t become competitive or resentful, it’s a relationship that can definitely last.
A great example of this match is Blake Lively (Virgo) and Ryan Reynolds (Scorpio) who were friends (and Green Lantern coworkers) first before they started dating in 2011 and had a super private wedding in 2012. Constantly trolling each other to keep that spark alive, Lively and Reynolds are great friends as well as nauseatingly perfect partners.
