Evening everyone, theres quite a few superocean chronos significantly cheaper In Japan on chrono24. Were talking £700 cheaper than than a European equivalent! So even with import duty it's alit cheaper.
Has anyone braved it. Chrono offers a secure payment service and 14 day money back guarantee. But something has my Spidey sense tingling. Which normally means it's too good to be true.
Breitling Superocean Chronograph II
£1,632

This isn't the cheapest either there between 1400 and 2k in Japan and anything north of 2.3k in the UK.
Thanks.
I purchased a Grand Seiko from Japan via Chrono24 and it couldn’t have gone any smoother. This was from a watch shop/dealer but I’ve also purchased from private individuals in Europe too.
In your example above though it’s purchase price plus shipping plus 20% of that which is £2,110. Maybe not worth the extra risk for a few hundred quid. There’s usually no import duty added for individual watches as it’s capped at something like 80p.

Apparently used watches are quite a tough sell in Japan unless they are immaculate, which means they are cheaper to source and sold out of Japan at lower prices. Not uncommon for Japanese dealers to be the cheapest or close to the cheapest on C24.
So I wouldn't let the price put you off, I'd just buy the seller. I've only had 1 experience buying directly though C24 (although I have found watches on there and done deals directly a few times) and it is a reassuring system.
There's about 8 or 9 in the colour I'd like on there. The descriptions are pretty good and tally with the photos. I've un saved 3 as they are clearly abit ropey but the rest I can't see anything wrong with them they look in amazing condition. The photos are very good too. I'm guessing the pound to yen rate also helps.
Maybe I'll give it ago. I'll read the chrono T&C's when I'm abit more sober. And wait on the seller to come back to me I have a few messages/emails out with them now although most are one seller.
Zero issues with C24, all as per their website https://www.chrono24.co.uk/about-us.htm#gref.
Bought from Portugal, USA, and Hong Kong, all good, and have so far not paid import duty.

This is exactly my thoughts I'm look at still saving £400- £500 even after duty.
Do you remember whech seller it was the one I've been looking at have good scores on the app. I'll do abit more research on them as most are with the same seller
Brand Shop Lips
Your funds are held in escrow and only released to the seller when you are happy.
Imagine the dispute process with a Japanese seller would be a headache, but no experience here.

I've done it, a limited edition used GS, was immaculate.
No brainer with c24 protection.
Pound has weakened significantly in the last 6 months.
As I said I have been looking at Omega moon watches and the non UK supplied ones have gone up by a few hundred quid in that time which I'm guessing is at least impacted by the FX rate move.
There may be other factors at play of course....
I think I am about to take the plunge on a Speedmaster from what appears to be a big dealer on C24 in Italy.
It’s probably the most expensive one that I’ve found, but it is in amazing condition and is exactly what I want.
Just a bit concerned about the VAT/Import/TAX etc, unless I am being a bit dim after a couple of bottles of red, adding £800 to the price of the watch makes it then very expensive??

Just take a return flight out there, have some lunch and come back with it....
I've never done this but I've heard of others who have....

Balls. I didnt think of that last night (post a moderately large amount of red wine). I could have possibly got a slightly better deal out of it too as I could have bought it direct and they could have saved the C24 sellers fees.
Ahh well, live and learn. I am just crossing my fingers that I might get away with it as I have read online there are many that haven't had the call to cough it up!
