def fairy liquid and toothbrush and silvo for the band. Worked in a jewellers as a student and cleaned hundreds. would disappear through back and clean them and customers always thought had used some amazing soluton or fancy machine. alays made me laugh

MIL has one of those ultrasonic jewellry cleaners (she's in the antiques business) so she does mine.
But this thread reminded me of something. My mum got her engagement ring in a shop in Bristol where my dad lived. They offered a lifetime of free cleaning, so even after they married, when visiting dad's family they would get it cleaned. This carried on for years (I remember being taken there). Anyway, all connections, therefore visits to Bristol ended years ago. Then mum and dad, for their ruby wedding, did a bit of a tour of the UK, taking in places from their past, including Bristol. So they found the jewellers and went in and got mum's ring cleaned, for free

I personally just use fairy washing up liquid and a toothbrush on my jewellery but my mum always used to boil her diamond jewellery(which apparently you can only do if diamond)in a saucepan on the hob and they used to come up sparkling. She doesn't do this anymore, but now puts her rings in one of those washng nets(that you get with the tabs)and puts it in the dishwasher.
They come out really clean.
