The new Netflix original Christmas romantic comedy A Castle for Christmas premiered on Nov. 26, and you might have heard a familiar voice soundtracking Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes’s love story. That voice? None other than Grammy and Emmy winner Kelly Clarkson.
Brooke Shields stars in the movie as author Sophie Brown, who hits a rough patch in her writing career in the wake of the release of her latest book. She seeks refuge in a trip to Scotland, where she looks to purchase a castle from bristly owner Duke Myles (Cary Elwes).
Of course, the pair butt heads over the titular castle, but their differences mask a budding romance in the wintry Scottish countryside. It’s the picturesque holiday rom-com of our dreams, complete with a selection of Christmas music you’ll want to add to your playlist.
Although A Castle for Christmas features lots of great holiday songs, the one voice that will stand out to most viewers belongs to Kelly Clarkson. If you’re unfamiliar with the multi-platinum singer’s Christmas music, here’s the song you will be singing all season.
During a romantic montage of Sophie and Duke, “Wrapped in Red” by Kelly Clarkson sets the tone. The song hails from Clarkson’s 2013 Christmas album of the same name.
It’s the perfect song choice to soundtrack that sequence of the movie, and one of the more underrated songs from Clarkson’s Wrapped in Red album. Most casual listeners have at least heard “Underneath the Tree” on the radio sometime in the past eight years.
While you should definitely give Wrapped in Red, the album and the song, a listen after finishing A Castle for Christmas, don’t forget to listen to Kelly Clarkson’s new holiday album, When Christmas Comes Around…, featuring collaborations with Ariana Grande and Chris Stapleton.
